Minecraft Dungeons Update 1.10: Howling Peaks DLC is here

Minecraft Dungeons is not the kind of game you would expect Mojang to make, but it has been a remarkable success since its launch, with DLC content and updates coming in regularly.

The latest update has landed across the platforms, but what's in it? Let's take a look.

Howling Peaks DLC is here

The third expansion DLC for Minecraft Dungeons has arrived. Originally promised at Minecraft Live, along with the Caves & Cliffs update to Minecraft, it has now landed in the game across every platform as part of Update 1.10.

The third DLC, and first outside the Hero Edition, Howling Peaks takes players to a mountainous area full of puzzles, baddies, and a even a new golem-style boss!

The update, as you would expect, fixes many bugs but it also brings some balancing changes and new enchantments for players to discover.

Let's look at the balance-changes first:

Balancing

  • Totem of Regeneration healing increased from 20 to 40 seconds
  • Soul Lantern increased damage by 50%, attack speed by 40%, and soul cost by 20%
  • Sweet Brew duration increased from 20 to 120 seconds
  • Prospector now triggers no matter the damage source
  • Looting now triggers no matter the damage source
  • Fewer Emeralds at end of Apocalypse VII from salvage, but more from loot sources
  • Invulnerability when rolling reduced to 0.3s
  • Ghost Cloak damage reduction now -50% damage

Vindicator

These enemies have changed a fair bit. The new "taunt circle + lock" behaviour has been adjusted, while their have reduced charge speed.

They will have reduced melee tickets, while a behaviour was added to make them go aggressive when they are hurt in a taunt circle.

FIGURE IT OUT: There are puzzles a-plenty up in the hills

They will also now get locked on you if you run away > 15 blocks.

Illusioner

A lot has changed here, let's take a look:

  • Explosive arrow damage now 275
  • Illusion arrow damage now 30
  • Health reduced to 1800
  • Increased ranged max attacks to issue in a row to 2
  • Cast blind cooldown now 30s
  • Blind effect now 10s
  • Illusion lifetime now 7s
  • Ranged attack cooldown now 2.2s
  • Mess effect causes a 25% chance to hit
