Diamonds are some of the best items you can find in Minecraft. Now that 1.18 is here, some huge changes have been made to the structure of caves. Here's what you should look for when you start hunting them down.
What's new in Minecraft Caves and Cliffs Part Two?
Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part two, otherwise known as Minecraft 1.18, brings some huge changes to the game. This should change up the way you farm diamonds. Most importantly, it changes the way that caves are structured. You can read about noise caves right here.
With this comes some huge differences to the way that ores are distributed too. The world is getting much bigger and dedicated caves gives you the ability to search more efficiently. We'll go over that below.
If you're looking to get yourself some diamonds via mining, you need an Iron Pickaxe or better. This being said, you can occasionally find them in chests littered throughout the world.
If you're planning on making your way into caves, you will need to have adequate armour to take on all the baddies in the dark. For this reason, you should probably go in with full armour, some food, torches and a handful of Iron Pickaxes.
Diamonds are predominantly used to get better armour and weapons but can also be used for decorative purposes. You will want some of these if you plan on finishing the game.
Where to find Minecraft Diamonds
You can only find Diamond Ore between y=16 and y=-64 so make sure to make your way deep into caves before you start mining. Generally, you should start by looking through generated caves you find until you get into big areas.
From here, start mining across y=55 to y=60 for your best chance at getting clumps of them together. With the way caves are generated, sometimes you are better off running far from where you are and looking for an opening in the surface. If you search around more and look for big caves, you should be able to get as many Diamonds as you need.
