Worlds 2022 Play-In Day 4 Results

Worlds teams

Group A

The results from Group A on day 4 were as follows:

  • Beyond Gaming 0-1 Fnatic
  • LOUD 1-0 Chiefs Esports Club
  • DetonatioN FocusMe 1-0 Evil Geniuses

Fnatic came out strong today, with Humanoid propelling his team to victory on his Akali. The mistakes of yesterday seemed Worlds away, and they looked clean and composed throughout the game.

Evil Geniuses fell to DFM, after a fantastic game by Evi with a Yuumi on his back. A faliure in underestimating their opponents, EG paid, the price.

This left Evil Geniuses, LOUD, and DFM in a 3 way tie, so two tiebreaker games followed:

Fortunately, EG learned from their mistakes, and took the tiebreaker games in convincing fashion. NA fans will be breathing a sigh of relief as EG will now face an easier opponent in a tiebreaker.

Group B

In Group B, the results were as follows:

  • İstanbul Wildcats 0-1 Isurus
  • DRX 1-0 MAD Lions
  • Royal Never Give Up 1-0 Saigon Buffalo

The two titans from China and Korea reigned supreme today in group A. RNG's victory was not pretty, but they were able to shut down Froggy's Zac that was so successful last outting, and take second place in the group.

DRX's game against MAD was even closer. MAD was ahead on kills, and gold, and had claimed the dragon soul, but one unfortunate fight led to the ace, and DRX charging down the top lane for the win. The LEC 4th seed will take solace in the fact that they came closer than anyone to taking DRX down.

There was no need for tiebreakers in Group B, as DRX advance, RNG take 2nd, and MAD and SGB will fight for the chance to play EG tonight, which will then decide who makes it to groups.

Worlds Play-Ins Day 4 Standings

Fnatic took 1st in Group A, with a three way tie for second place. Through tiebreakers, EG now sit in second, followed by LOUD and DFM. Qualification matches tonight and tomorrow will decide who out of these three will make the Worlds Group Stage.
