LoL 11.8 Brings Big Changes, New Champion

LoL 11.8 has arrived, bringing some massive changes to League of Legends!

Let's dive right into its patch notes, including a Rammus rework, the (eventual) addition of the new champion Gwen, and changes for 17 Champions and 8 Items.

It's patch day! The new LoL 11.8 patch notes have been revealed, and players can try out the massive changes in-game now!

New Champion

LoL 11.8 will eventually introduce League of Legends' newest champion, Gwen, on April 15th.

Champion Buffs

These champions receive buffs in LoL 11.8:

  • Aphelios
    • The Hitman and The Seer (Passive)
      • Lethality increased from 3/6/9/12/15/18 to 3.5/7/10.5/14/17.5/21
    • Moonlight Vigil (R):
      • Calibrum Damage per Mark increased from 40/70/100 to 50/80/110
      • Severum Healing increased from 250/375/500 to 275/400/525
      • Gravitum Root Duration increased from 1.25 seconds to 1.35 seconds
      • Infernum Splash Damage increased from 85% of initial damage to 90% of initial damage
      • Crescendum Chakram Refund increased from 4 additional (5 total) to 5 additional (6 total)
  • Cassiopeia
    • Twin Fang (E)
      • Cost decreased from 50 mana to 50/48/46/44/42 mana
  • LeBlanc
    • Sigil of Malice (Q)
      • Base Damage increased from 55/80/105/130/155 to 65/90/115/140/165
      • Total Damage increased from 110/160/210/260/310 to 130/180/230/280/330
  • Lee Sin
    • Tempest (E)
      • Cooldown decreased from 10 seconds to 8 seconds
  • Rammus
    • Powerball (Q)
      • Base Damage decreased from 100/135/170/205/240 to 100/130/160/190/220
    • Defensive Ball Curl (W)
      • New Effect - Basic attacks now extend the duration of Defensive Ball Curl by 0.4 seconds, up to a maximum of 4 additional seconds
    • Frenzying Taunt (E)
      • Taunt Duration decreased from 1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0/2.25 seconds to 1.2/1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0 seconds
    • Soaring Slam (R) - NEW SPELL!
      • Rammus leaps into the air and slams down, dealing 100/175/250 (+0.6 AP) magic damage and slowing enemies by 15/17.5/20% for 1.5 seconds. Rammus generates aftershocks at the target location for 4 seconds, dealing 20/30/40 (+0.1 AP) magic damage and stacking the initial slow up to four times. Damage near the center is increased up to 150% damage based on the distance traveled. If Soaring Slam is cast while Rammus is in Powerball, enemies near the center are also knocked up and dealt Powerball's collision damage, ending Powerball's effect.
      • Cooldown increased from 100/80/60 seconds to 130/110/90 seconds

  • Transfusion (Q)
    • Cooldown decreased from 9/8/7/6/5 seconds to 9/7.75/6.5/5.25/4 seconds
  • Zac
    • Unstable Matter (W)
      • Damage increased from 25/40/55/70/85 (+4/5/6/7/8% of target’s maximum health) (+2% per 100 AP) to 35/50/65/80/95 (+4/5/6/7/8% of target’s maximum health) (+4% per 100 AP)

Champion Nerfs

These champions will be getting nerfs in LoL 11.8:

  • Annie
    • Incinerate (W)
      • Cost increased from 70/80/90/100/110 mana to 90/95/100/105/110 mana
  • Gnar
    • Hyper (W)
      • Bonus Movement Speed reduced from 30/45/60/75%, decaying over 3s (based on R rank) to 20/40/60/80%, decaying over 3s (based on R rank)
  • Orianna
    • Command: Protect (E)
      • Bonus Resistances decreased from 10/15/20/25/30 armor and magic resist to 6/12/18/24/30 armor and magic resist
  • Thresh
    • Flay (E)
      • Cooldown decreased from 9 seconds to 11/10.5/10/9.5/9 seconds
  • Yorick
    • Shepherd of Souls (Passive)
      • Mist Walker Damage decreased from 2/3/4/5/6/7/8/14/20/26/32/38/44/55/66/77/88/99 (+30% total AD) to 2/3/4/5/6/7/8/13/18/23/28/33/38/48/58/68/78/88 (+25% total AD)
  • Mourning Mist (E)
    • Mist Walker Initial Leap Damage decreased from 200% on first attack to 100% (normal damage) on first attack
    • NEW EFFECT: Marked Territory - Marked targets take 40% increased damage from the next 8 attacks by a Mist Walker
  • Euology of the Isles (R)
    • Turret Priority now targets melee and ranged minions over the Maiden.

Item Buffs

Only one item will be receiving outright buffs in LoL 11.8, but it's far from the only item receiving any changes:

  • Frozen Heart
    • Armor increased from 70 to 80

Item Nerfs

Only one item will be receiving outright nerfs in LoL 11.8, but many other items will be adjusted as well:

  • Ionian Boots of Lucidity
    • Total Cost increased from 900 gold to 950 gold

Item Changes

These items will also be changed in LoL 11.8, but won't work out to singular buffs or nerfs:

  • Chemtank Putrifier
    • Ability Power increased from 50 to 55
    • Puffcap Toxin Ally Empowerment effect changed from: Healing or shielding an allied champion (including yourself) empowers the ally’s next damage to an enemy champion with 60% Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds to Healing or shielding another allied champion (excluding yourself) empowers both the ally’s and your next damage to an enemy champion with 60% Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds
    • No More Grievances Effect added: Items that apply Grievous Wounds will now be called out in chat to notify your team when purchased
  • Hextech Rocketbelt
    • Health decreased from 350 to 250
    • Magic Penetration increased from 0 to 6
    • Upgraded Aeropack (Ornn Upgrade) decreased from 450 to 350
    • Upgraded Aeropack (Ornn Upgrade) Magic Penetration increased from 0 to 10
  • Moonstone Renewer
    • Starlit Grace heal decreased from 50-100 (based on target's level) to 60 (at all levels)
    • Starlit Grace Heal Amplification decreased from each second spent in combat increases the base heal by 12.5%, stacking up to 4 times, up to 50% to each second spent in combat increases your healing and shielding power by 4%, stacking up to 5 times, up to 20%
    • Mythic Passive Changed from: Empowers each of your other Legendary items with 5 ability haste to Increases Starlit Grace’s heal by 10
  • Shurelia's Battlesong
    • Inspire Damage Empowerment REMOVED
    • New Passive - Motivate: Empowering or protecting another allied champion (excluding yourself) grants both allies 25% movement speed over 1.5 seconds
    • Mythic Passive changed from 3% movement speed to 5 ability haste
  • Staff of Flowing Water
    • Rapids effect changed from grants 15% bonus movement speed and 20-40 (based on target's level) AP for 3 seconds to grants 20 ability haste and 20-40 AP for 4 seconds
  • Titanic Hydra
    • Colossus Bonus AD changed from Equal to 1% maximum health to Equal to 2% bonus health
