Vex Lore
Vex grew up in Bandle City and was raised by a loving mother and father... everyone's nightmare, right? Well, for Vex, this was the worst upbringing possible.
She did not fit in with her yordle peers and didn't try to. Her gloomy personality was so different from the upbeat yordles that she was surrounded by. However, due to the lack of people like her, Vex made friends with her shadow.
Shortly after, the harrowing happened. Bandle City became coated in a black mist which yordles fought to push back. However, Vex's reaction was far different. She was enticed by it and found its source.
Meeting Viego in the Shadow Isles meant she now had a different friend. She thought they would work together to destroy all happiness. However, she then found out about Viego's search for Isolde, his wife, and his happiness. However, she left Viego to be defeated by the sentinels of light.
Now, she wanders the shadow isles alone and happy.
Vex Abilities
Passive - Doom ‘n Gloom
Doom - Periodically, Vex becomes empowered by Doom, causing her next basic ability to interrupt dashes and Fear enemies.
Gloom - Whenever a nearby enemy dashes or blinks, they become marked with Gloom. Vex’s next basic attack against a marked enemy detonates the mark, dealing bonus damage and refunding part of Doom's cooldown.
Q - Mistral Bolt
Vex launches a wave forward, dealing magic damage to enemies it passes through. After a short delay, the wave accelerates but has reduced width. Mistral Bolt detonates Gloom on any marked enemies it hits.
W - Personal Space
Vex gains a shield and emits a shockwave, dealing magic damage to enemies around her. Personal Space detonates Gloom on any marked enemies it hits.
E - Looming Darkness
Shadow flies to a location, increasing in size as it travels. On arriving, Shadow deals magic damage, slows, and marks enemies hit with Gloom.
R - Shadow Surge
Shadow flies forward, marking and dealing magic damage to the first enemy champion hit. Vex can then recast this ability to have Shadow pull her to the marked target, dealing additional magic damage.
If the marked target dies within a short time of taking damage from Shadow Surge, Vex can cast Shadow Surge again within a few seconds.
Best items
Vex is best played in the mid-lane in League of Legends. Because of this, her best items are those with high damage and high mana. This is why Luden's Tempest is incredibly popular as a first item.
Pairing this with Sorcerer's Boots as your next item is key to making sure defences don't whittle your numbers down. Additionally, this boot choice leads nicely into Shadowflame which also has some good magic penetration.
Finishing off with Void Staff and Rabadons Deathcap is great to boost her AP numbers.
