*UPDATED* LoL Skarner Champion Guide - runes, playstyles, abilities and more

Skarner is the Crystal Vanguard in the League of Legends and is soon getting a brand-new VGU.

However, if players want to try out the crystal scorpion, they must have an introduction to this champion.

As a brilliant jungler and top laner, this scorpion struggles with his incredibly low pick rate.

But, face off against one of these and players can feel the strength behind the crystal vanguard.

One of the strongest parts of his kit is his disruption to lanes, ulting an enemy character is now only hilarious, but very strong.

But, how do players use Skarner in the League of Legends with his abilities, playstyle, and runes?

Skarner Abilities

Here are the full abilities of Skarner in the League of Legends.

PASSIVE - Crystal Spires

Skarner's presence causes crystals to spawn in set locations around the map. Crystals can be captured by either team by standing close to them. When near crystals his team owns, Skarner gains Move Speed, attack speed, and increased mana regeneration.

Q - Crystal Slash

Skarner lashes out with his claws, dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies and charging himself with Crystal Energy for several seconds if a unit is struck. If he casts Crystal Slash again while powered by Crystal Energy, he deals bonus magic damage.

W - Crystalline Exoskeleton

Skarner gains a shield and has increased Move Speed while the shield persists.

E - Fracture

Skarner summons a blast of crystalline energy which deals damage to enemies struck and slows them. Basic attacking these enemies within a short window will stun them.

R - Impale

Skarner suppresses an enemy champion and deals damage to it. During this time, Skarner can move freely and will drag his helpless victim around with him. When the effect ends, the target will be dealt additional damage.

League of Legends Runes

Playing Skarner in the jungle or up in the top lane is the best position for this champion.

However, many players choose to take him as a jungler due to the strength he has with ganking.

Taking Conqueror is a great start to ensure that Skarner has some extra oomph to his tankiness.

Pairing that up with Triumph also helps with that rejuvenation too.

Last Stand is a good way to rack up some damage numbers as well as increase the health of Skarner.

Usually, many junglers will take the sorcery tree as a secondary path and would take Water-Walking or Transcendence.

Skarner Playstyle in League of Legends

Taking jungler mobs is perfect with Skarner as the nearer he is to his crystals, the faster he can take the camps.

His disruptive ability with his ultimate is great for dragging enemies into a fight or even under a tower.

So, utilising this ability when ganking is perfect to ensure the kill goes as planned.

However, a big flaw in his ganking style is warding.

If the enemy team are good with wards, it can be awkward for a jungler to gank and not be seen beforehand.

So, taking a sweeper may be great for early to mid-game to ensure that wards are gotten rid of before ganking.
