Cutscenes Affected By Day & Night Cycles

Halo Infinite was originally scheduled to be a launch title for the Xbox Series X|S, but was unfortunately delayed due to fan backlash after its gameplay reveal in late 2020.

This left the Xbox Series X|S with a fairly weak launch lineup, but 2021 looks to be a much stronger year, especially with the recent acquisition of Bethesda.

While no release date has been set, new details have been revealed, giving players a look at what to expect from Halo Infinite when it finally launches.

New Halo Infinite Details

Halo Infinite was due to launch alongside the Xbox Series X|S, but was unfortunately delayed due to fan backlash after its gameplay reveal in late 2020.

This left the Xbox Series X|S with a fairly weak launch lineup, but 2021 looks to be a much stronger year, especially with the recent acquisition of Bethesda.

Bethesda Xbox

While no release date has been set, new details have been revealed, giving players a look at what to expect from Halo Infinite when it finally launches.

During a recent Q&A, 343 Industries revealed many new details about Halo Infinite, showing that the developers have been hard at work making the game the best it can be.

The new details were summarized on Reddit, here are some of the key details that were revealed.

Day and Night System

It has been confirmed that a day and night cycle has been added to the game, giving the ring the feeling of being alive.

This will also include a wind system, but no rain or snowstorms, however, the developers are “excited about the future”, indicating these elements may come at a later date.

The day and night cycles also affect enemies you’ll run into.

Grunts sleep more at night, while Phantoms use searchlights to hunt you do.

No Dual-Wielding

Duel-wielding weapons became a popular mechanic across most Halo games, allowing players to carry two of the same weapon, or even two different weapons to add double the firepower which is handy when facing hordes of enemies.

It has been confirmed that the mechanic won’t be coming to Halo Infinite, disappointing news for some players.

Halo Infinite Is Not Open World

Halo Infinite will not be an open world but instead will be like the Silent Cartographer on steroids if you know you know.

Linear Yet Open

The game will have a linear path for story progression, with certain areas unlocking over time.

But players will be able to complete some objectives early by straying from the linear path.

Cutscenes Affected By Day & Night Cycles

Because cutscenes are done live in-engine, there will be smooth transitions between gameplay and cutscenes, with them both taking place in real-time, meaning we won’t see night-time gameplay and then a day time cutscene.

This also makes things uniques as everyone’s cutscenes will look slightly different depending on the time of day.

This will take a lot of skill to pull off but will be really fun and satisfying to do at least once.
