As a surprise for the ages, Xbox announced that the Halo Infinite Multiplayer is launching early in form of a beta on November 15. You can jump in now ahead of the full release on December 8. Here's how you download Halo Infinite for free now on Xbox, if you have Game Pass or not.
How to Download Halo Infinite Multiplayer (Free & Xbox Game Pass)
If you head to the Xbox Store on your Xbox console, PC, or mobile app, you'll be able to spot Halo Infinite multiplayer as a separate download from the campaign.
If you select it, it will allow you to 'pre-install' a version of the game that comes in at 200mb on Xbox and 10mb on PC. For now at least, it seems like the full version cannot be downloaded.
Rather than saying 'you're too early' starting up Halo Infinite after downloading it, it will simply show you a blue screen.
We're sure that the full multiplayer will be playable very soon, and the app will progress past the blue screen, and we'll let you know as soon as that's the case. There may even be an additional update for you to download.
This should all be the same case for Game Pass subscribers. You'll be able to find the Halo Infinite on the Game Pass section of the store, but it doens't matter where you find it. Halo Infinite's multiplayer is free to everyone, whether you're a Game Pass subscribers or not.
Halo Infinite Season 1 Begins Now
Halo Infinite Season 1 has also begun today, with it running all the way through to May 2022.
There will be events to take part in until then, with any progress you make in this free beta carrying over to the full game on December 8.
That being said, since the game is free in beta or at full release, the full game is essentially out now.
