How to get the enhanced version of GTA 5 on next-gen

We are still waiting on more information about the Enhanced Edition of Grand Theft Auto V. However, that doesn't mean Xbox players aren't going to get a taste of what's in store soon.

LATEST - GTA 5 Is Back On Game Pass

Unexpectedly, GTA 5 is being added back to Xbox's Game Pass service in the next couple of days.


Some people are speculating that this is acting as a prelude to an announcement from Rockstar Games in the next few days, but we're not convinced just yet.

Still, GTA 5 is being added to Xbox's Game Pass alongside Zombie Army 4: Dead War, Disneyland Adventures and Rush: The Disney/Pixar Adventure on April 8th.

An "enhanced and expanded" version of GTA 5 is due to drop on the PS5 and Xbox Series X at some point in the second half of 2021 and we have everything you need to know about getting it.


How To Get

At the moment, there isn't any way you can get your hands on the "enhanced and expanded" version of GTA 5 on any platform.

This, primarily, is because it isn't out yet and hasn't even been given a confirmed release date.

We know it is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2021, but this is subject to change.

In addition to this, we have no idea as to whether this game will be a free upgrade or a wholly new version of the game. Although, we expect the latter given the sheer scale of the improvements that we are anticipating.


"Enhanced and Expanded"

This is the tag line that first appeared in the Announcement Trailer, but what does it actually mean?

If we look at the Announcement Trailer below, it doesn't actually look too different. Just a shinier version of GTA 5.

However, the "enhanced and expanded" comment has everyone wondering what's going to be included and we can only speculate.

If we look at current next-gen titles, then we are safe to expect a number of technological improvements.

Ray Tracing, native 4K visuals, steady 60fps gameplay and faster loading times seem like a given.

However, in terms of "expanded"? It's anyone's guess.

GTA 5 has never received a single-player expansion and the latest GTA Online expansion was limited to one Heist.

Could we be seeing the Cayo Perico island and its' storyline get integrated into the single-player experience?

For now, we'll have to wait on Rockstar Games for more updates...
