Players have been hunting for any sliver of information they can on GTA 6 for years now. Rockstar job listings, insider reports, and any image that looks even slightly relevant have been the cause of mass excitement.
Most recently, however, an image of a plane flying above what looks like Miami (Vice City) has been posted to Reddit as the 'first GTA 6 screenshot' and it looks more legitimate than almost anything that's come before it, even if it still looks like a blurry picture of a TV screen.
'First GTA 6 Screenshot' Reportedly Leaked
Of course, just as with any screenshot leak or rumour, this one should be taken with more than a pinch of salt (GTA 6 is somewhat notorious for fake leaks now) but it certainly could be real.
The image has recently been reposted by u/SouthernFailway, who has delved really deep into whether of not the screenshot is real, and why that it.
- They note that "the minimap also bears a strong resemblance to the leaked RDR 2 map we saw before release, along with the gridlines and text ( we can see it says "qis-" something."
- They have worked out that the sun is to the south and the plane is flying North East, just as would do in Miami in real life.
- "it says "xxxstatroam" above the minimap, along with "ov-jespero" underneath" which could point to some kind of playtest being the source of the image.
- It matches up really well with the leaked map that was doing the rounds a few weeks ago. "Look at this circled area and then the mini-map from the picture. If you watch the video you can find where it is. The northern most point of Ocean Beach." The image in question is below.
Again, it's important to say that both of these images could in fact be fake. There's no way to know how real they are yet.
They could be careful made images to get other fans talking, or they could be genuine, albeit likely old, images from GTA 6.
Just as the poster of the information above states, this all looks a bit more real than the strange maps and documents that have 'leaked' previously do. You can only judge for yourselves how real it looks.
One thing we can say for sure: an official reveal of GTA 6 would cause excitement countless times greater than a supposedly leaked image.
