Fans want GTA 6 to stick to traditional characters

Despite the technological advances over the past 20+ years, which have seen GTA go from a top-down game to an expansive open-world experience, the series hasn't strayed too far from what made it great all those years ago.

We are now over seven years on from the release of the last entry in the series, GTA V, and we have seen huge advancements in technology since then.

The world really is at Rockstar Games' fingertips, with the scope to make the game as large as they want and filled to the brim with content.

Even with all of the possibilities in mind, fans are still hoping GTA 6 doesn't stray too far from tradition, especially when it comes to the game's protagonist.

What Type of Character Do Fans Want?

In a Reddit post, a poll asked fans what they want to see from the main character of the game, presuming it will release eventually.

The two options were"

"GTA Story style: Voice Actors, pre-set model, etc." So think more along the lines of Michael, Trevor, Franklin etc from previous games."

Or "GTA Online style: No voice, full-body customisation."

At the time of writing this, the results stand at 2043 votes for the story style, and 201 for the online style.

It makes sense that players would want to see a character with a voice actor as it would feel like the series would be going backwards.

But, many fans also want to see more customizable options in the game, similar to GTA: San Andreas.

There is also no reason why we couldn't see a fully customizable character like GTA Online, but with dialogue too, although that could be too time-consuming as Rockstar would need to record dialogue with different actors depending on factors such as sex, race etc, so that could hinder that option, but it would be great to see.

It is very likely that we will see the story mode of GTA 6 follow the traditional path, with Rockstar saving the customization for what we'd expect to be a new version of GTA Online.
