Another week and another GTA 6 "leak", this time from 4chan, so nothing is guaranteed.
The supposed leaker claims to have confirmed the release date and locations for GTA 6, and it follows recent rumours. While we have no way to confirm the information, here's what the claims suggest for the game.
GTA 6 Rumours Are True?
According to a 4chan "leaker", the recent rumours of the GTA 6 release date and locations are actually true.
In the post, the leaker claimed to have worked with Rockstar in a “coordinating capacity”.
We've uploaded the post here in case the Imgur image ever gets removed.
Judging by the post, assuming its true, this leaker played a key part in the development of GTA 6 and worked on the game for a considerable length of time.
The leaker went on to say that the news wire art is ready, meaning the promo art for the press release and that an official announcement could happen much sooner than we think.
According to the post, Rockstar has been working on GTA 6 for a decade, even working through the RDR2 crunch, because "we knew it had to exceed every expectation or you would burn us all."
The leaker claims that the game will feature six cities in total, and we should know what five of them are.
We can assume they mean Liberty City, Vice City, Los Santos, the cities based on Chicago and Rio, and then an unknown sixth city.
They state that we "wouldn't believe how good it [Liberty City] looks. I think it and the "Northern Pass" area are the best looking parts of the game so far. Still a ton of lighting and shading to be done but these two areas really show what the new RAGE [engine] can do."
GTA Online Is A Testing Ground
This is something I have thought about for a while, especially after the release of the Cayo Perico Heist.
I fully believe that Online is where they are testing new features for GTA 6 and the leaker backs that up, assuming it is true.
"We test new assets and mechanics constantly in GTAO. I genuinely don't know how you all aren't seeing it. Recently we tested our ability to add to the current map. It wasn't quite as successful as we hoped and that did push dates back somewhat. Though we are confident new hardware can handle it."
The leaker also claims that "T2 (Take-Two Interactive) won't settle for anything less than a platform where GTA Online can live on indefinitely."
So Are The Leaks True?
Who knows really, in the past we have seen leaks like this surface that turned out to be accurate, but nothing can be verified.
The RDR2 map leaked about two years before the game was released and was brushed off as fake.
But, for every one leaker that is true, there are dozen that are completely false, so only time will tell.
