Since the confirmation from Rockstar that a next-gen version of GTA 5 is good to go and ready for release, excitement has been building for launch day. Thankfully players don't have long left to wait before getting into the game, and preorders are available now!
Here's everything you need to know about the next-gen release of GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and how you can preorder your copies now.
Next-Gen GTA 5 Pre-Orders & Price
You can now preorder GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X (and S), as of Tuesday, 8 March.
This upgrade will cost $10, and for PS Plus users on PS5, the order also includes 3 months of GTA Online for free!
GTA V Pre-Load
Pre-load for GTA 5 should be available on Xbox Series X as soon as you've pre-ordered the upgraded version of the game. For PS5, typically you must wait until 48 hours before release for pre-load to be avaialble.
This rule is sometimes bypassed and in the case of GTA 5, with the release being so soon after pre-orders go live, we may see this 48 hour period waived.
Transfer GTA V Story & Online Content
In the case of both story content and Online characters, the process for transferring them to the next-gen versions of GTA 5 is the same. You can upload everything to the Rockstar Social Club and it will sit there for 90 days.

You can boot the upgraded version of GTA 5, access the Social Club and download your content from the cloud to initiate a transfer. It's best to only upload your saves or character once you know you are done playing on the PS4 or Xbox One version of the game.
