Another week, another Grand Theft Auto VI rumour.

Gamers are clamouring for there to be an official announcement for GTA VI, especially with the release of the next-gen consoles.

The Cayo Perico Heist will drop next month as part of GTA Online's Winter Update, but some fans think that they've found a subtle hint to GTA VI hidden in the reveal trailer...

The Rumour

The Cayo Perico Heist is part of a massive update for GTA Online, the biggest that the online game has ever received. The 24-second teaser trailer doesn't show us a lot, but some fans have analysed every frame.

If you want to have a go at spotting it yourself, here's the teaser trailer where it can be found:

Did you miss it? You almost certainly did, as it's such a subtle and easily admissible detail.

At around 15 seconds in, there's a screen which shows GPS coordinates. If you input these coordinates into GPS, you'll find this:

This was found by Twitter user @GTA6Only and it certainly looks like a "VI", which is the Roman numeral symbol for six. If you're wondering where this is, it's a dirt road in rural Virginia, USA.

Could this be a hint that GTA 6 will take place in Virginia? Probably not, as GTA always takes place in big cities like the fictionalised Liberty City (NYC) and Los Santos (LA).

Is this all wishful thinking? Probably. Is it purely a coincidence? Almost certainly not. Rockstar's attention to detail is unlike most game developers and they probably dropped this hint in for fans to discover.

The fact that these GPS coordinates lead to a fairly clear "VI" shape probably isn't a coincidence. Although, if you look at rural mountainous roads, a lot of them will wind around in this pattern.

THE BEGINNING OF THE END: Does the teaser hint at the end of GTA V?

We know GTA VI will arrive eventually, we just don't yet know when nor what form it will take.

The unparalleled success of GTA Online will mean that Rockstar won't be in a hurry to develop GTA 6. That's more than fine with us though, as Red Dead Redemption 2 also took many years to make and it's one of the best games ever.

Release Dates

The Cayo Perico Heist and Winter Update will go live on 15 December worldwide.
