The long wait for the next Genshin Impact update is finally over - Genshin Impact 2.8, Summer Fantasia, is almost here to bring the Summer season to Teyvat!
We're going to be seeing banners full of important reruns, including Kazuha, Klee, and Yoimiya. The Golden Apple Archipelago will also be back just in time for the great weather.

Genshin Impact 2.8 Release Time & Date
Genshin Impact 2.8 will go live on July 13, 2022, at 11 am server time (Chinese Standard Time).
This breaks down to the following release times:
- July 12, 2022, 8 pm PST
- July 12, 2022, 11 pm EST
- July 12, 2022, 4 am GMT

Latest - Server Downtime & Maintenance Schedule
Genshin Impact 2.8 Maintenance begins at 6 am Server Time on July 13, 2022.
The server's maintenance is estimated to take around five hours, with players being compensated 300 Primogems for the downtime.
Genshin Impact 2.8 Skins
Version 2.8 will introduce two new Alternative Outfits to Genshin Impact, but they are not just regular new skins.
With Diluc's Read Dead of Night skin, Genshin Impact is introducing the first Alternative outfit for a Male character and the first of the 5-star category.
5-star skins will include new ability effects and new idle animations. Unfortunately, the skin will be available only from the store, but no worries, as it's not the only new skin in Genshin Impact 2.8.
Hoyoverse is also giving F2P players a new Fischl skin - Ein Immernachtstraum (a German name that can be translated to A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's infamous play.)
Genshin Impact 2.8 Banners
The Genshin Impact 2.8 Banners will break down into two phases, each with its own great new drops to look forward to.
First Phase
The first phase will feature two 5-star character reruns.
- Leaves in the Wind will feature Kazuha - a 5-star Anemo Sword Character.
- Sparkling Steps will feature the rerun of Klee – a 5-star Pyro Catalyst Character.
Both Banners will share the following 4-star characters:
- Heizou - 4-star Anemo, Catalyst User
- Ningguang - 4-star Geo, Catalyst User
- Thoma - 4-star Pyro, Polearm User
Weapon Banners
The first weapon banner will feature one catalyst and one bow, both reruns.
Lost Prayer of the Sacred Winds, a 5-star catalyst, is an interesting weapon for DPS and Sub-DPS characters
Freedom Sworn is the second 5-star weapon of the Banner, a strong sword for characters that creates elemental reactions.
These 4-star weapons complete the weapon banner lineup:
- Favonius Lance - Polearm
- The Widsith - Catalyst
- Rainslasher - Claymore
- Alley Flash - Sword
- Mitternachts Waltz - Bow
Second Phase
For the second phase of Genshin Impact 2.8, we will receive only one rerun, Yoimiya.
The Second Weapon Banner will feature the
Thundering Pulse 5-star bow, the signature weapon for Yoimiya.
What Else is New in Genshin Impact 2.8?
New Region
- While we already visited the Golden Apples Archipelago once, we can expect an entirely new region this time around.
- We will get to explore an abandoned castle and 4 new domains.
- There are no new artifacts in this new update.
New Events
These are the new events and reruns coming to Genshin Impact 2.8
- Two New Story Quest:
- Kazuha Story Quest: Acer Palmatum Chapter 1
- Hangout Series VII. Trap' Em by Storm (Heizou)
- Main Event: Summertime Odyssey
- The GAA have secret connections with some of our favorite characters, producing unique domains based on their host.
- Kazuha, Mona, Xinyan and Fischl are the characters with a domain.
- Fischl will be the Free character during this event by collecting Iridescent Flotsam
- Reminiscent Regimen
- Convoy
- Players need to protect a floating vessel until it reaches its destination.
- Along the way, they have to collect coins to recharge the energy of the flying balloon, while battling Hillichurls.
- Raid
- Teams will navigate waveriders and board floating boards to battle enemies.
- The challenges are time-limited, the Anemo currents that take to the boards will disappear after some seconds.
- In Descend
- Players start from very high platforms. They must descend to the surface by battling their way down.
- Platforms will be locked until all enemies are defeated
- Convoy
- Evermotion Mechanical Painting
- In this challenge, players must solve gear puzzles to fix the mechanical paintings.
- Resonant Visions
- The event is the rerun of the exploration challenge, in which players need to collect Phantasmal Conchs.
- By collecting conchs players will obtain for free the new Fischl's skin:
- Hidden Strife
- While visiting the Dawn Winery, Paimon and the Traveler notice something from the past that might pose a threat to Mondstadt and the Winery.
