Genshin Impact 1.4 releases in a few days, and miHoYo has turned on the ability to pre-install the update through the game's launcher!
Pre-install is available for both PC and Mobile players and will allow Genshin Impact fans to jump right into the action once 1.4 releases on March 17th, 2021.
The process is fairly simple, requiring a little over 3 GB of space on the PC and around 2.25 GB on mobile.
Genshin Impact 1.4 PC Pre Install
PC players will need to open the Genshin Impact launcher and apply an update before the Pre-Installation option appears.
The initial update to the launcher is easy, and a prompt will appear to install it when the launcher is opened.
Once the update is finished and the Genshin Impact launcher re-opened, the Game Pre-Installation button will appear next to the "Launch" button.
The length of time to install the update varies based on internet speeds, but getting the installation out of the way now will make sure Genshin Impact players can jump right into 1.4 on March 17th.
Genshin Impact 1.4 Mobile Pre-Install
There are two different ways to pre-install the Genshin Impact 1.4 update on mobile devices.
The first is to tap the "Pre-Install Resource Package" icon, a cloud with a downward arrow, on the bottom-left-hand side of the login menu.
The second way is to access the Paimon Menu and go to Settings -> Other, and tap "Pre-Install Now" toward the screen's bottom.
It is important to note that even though players can preload much of Genshin Impact 1.4 on mobile devices, the app will still need to be updated through Google Play or the App Store upon the update's release.
Preloading Genshin Impact's 1.4 release will shorten the time mobile players need to wait on March 17th when a new version of the app is released.
