Latest - Best GW8 Captains

You already know who the most captained player in GW8 will be...

Erling Haaland v Wolves (A)

Erling Haaland is once again the standout captaincy choice for GW8, having already scored an astonishing 10 goals in just six PL appearances.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will travel to the Molineux Stadium to face 14th place Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Harry Kane v Leicester (H)

A safe bet for GW8. Harry Kane has not failed to produce an attacking return since GW1, netting five goals in that time period.

The Foxes sit dead last in the Premier League, having conceded 16 goals already this term, a number that is only beaten by Bournemouth's 18.

Kieran Trippier v Bournemouth (H)

If you are looking for a captaincy differential this week, targetting Newcastle's home fixture against Bournemouth could be an inspired move.

Kieran Trippier (£5.3m) offers both clean sheet and attacking potential whilst Alexander Isak (£7.0m) has the potential to haul in Gameweek 8.

The England international has kept three clean sheets and also made a league-high 28 saves this term.

The Magpies will face Bournemouth (H), Fulham (A) and Brentford (H) in their next three PL fixtures.

fpl-dean-henderson

Nottingham Forest GK Dean Henderson (£4.7m) is another great option as we head into blank GW8.

The Engish goalie will hope to pick up more clean sheet points as Forest face Fulham (H), Leicester (A), Aston Villa (H) and Wolves (A) in their next four PL games.

If you have opted for Alisson (£5.5m) in net, you could make the easy switch to fellow Brazilian GK Ederson (£5.5m), who travels to Wolves in GW8.

Defenders

Two of the highest-owned defenders in Fantasy will NOT be playing in Gameweek 8, with blanks coming up for both Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) and Reece James (£6.0m).

Newcastle wing-back Kieran Trippier (£5.3m) is the standout replacement for the two other English right-backs.

The Magpies' favourable run of fixtures presents opportunities for clean sheet points as well as attacking returns, with the England international on set piece duty.

You may also consider a West Ham defender, as the London club comes up against Everton (A), Wolves (H), Fulham (H) and Southampton (A) in their next four Premier League matches.

Summer signing Emerson (£4.0m) is a great budget option with attacking potential, whilst Kurt Zouma (£4.5m) is almost guaranteed 90 minutes of playing time each week.

Midfielders

With Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) sitting GW8 out, a switch to Manchester City midfield maestro Kevin de Bruyne (£12.2m) could be on the cards for some FPL managers, who would be smart to hand him the armband.

Ilkay Gundogan (£7.6m) and Bernardo Silva (£7.0m) provide cheaper City options in midfield, with the Portuguese having totalled 31 points over the course of the last four gameweeks.

fpl-leon-bailey

Jamaican winger Leon Bailey (£4.7m) has played back-to-back 90 minutes in Villa's last two PL games and managed to net a goal against Man City last time out.

Aston Villa's fortunes could be about to turn with a favourable run of upcoming fixtures including games against Southampton (H), Leeds (A), Nottingham Forest (A) and Fulham (A).

Anthony Gordon's (£5.5m) excellent start to the season could continue as Everton come up against struggling West Ham (H) and Southampton (A) next.

Forwards

Once again, Man City's goalscoring machine, Erling Haaland (£12.0m) is the standout captaincy option for GW8.

The Norway international striker is yet to blank in Fantasy, having picked up another goal and 9 points in GW6.

The 22-year-old also managed to net a brace last week on his Manchester City Champions League debut against Sevilla.

fpl-aleksander-mitrovic

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.8m) scored 43 goals in the Championship last season and has started this term in great form.

The Serbian striker had 27 shots and scored six goals already, with an away fixture against Nottingham Forest up next.

Newcastle's big money signing Alexander Isak (£7.0m) could also prove a worthy investment for a similar price tag.

The Sweed netted on his debut and has looked incredibly sharp against both Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
