RealSport101 Fantasy Premier League!

Gameweek 18 has arrived, which means blank gameweeks for several top teams!

So here are the top FPL picks which you should transfer in ahead of matchweek 18.

Goalkeepers

The shot stoppers! Here are our top 'keeper picks for GW 18.

Star Signing - David De Gea (£5.3m)

Manchester United travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley next, as Ole's men continue their surprise title charge.

In-form David De Gea will be hoping to secure his fifth clean sheet of the season, as he comes up against a Burnley attack which have scored just 9 goals all season - only Sheffield have netted fewer.

Bargain Buy - Karl Darlow (£5.0m)

The Magpies come up against bottom of the table Sheffield United in their next league fixture, who have now gone a record 17 Premier League games without a win.

Newcastle 'keeper Karl Darlow will be aiming to keep out a Sheffield attack which has scored the fewest goals of team this season, with just 8.

Defenders

Dynamic defenders! These two right backs could both keep clean sheets in matchweek 18.

Star Signing - Joao Cancelo (£5.7m)

Manchester City have 4 clean sheets from their last 6 Premier League games, with Joao Cancelo picking up 4 bonus points in that time as well.

Pep Guardiola's men host Brighton next, where Cancelo could produce attacking returns as well as the potential for clean sheet points.

Bargain Buy - Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£5.3m)

The English full back has picked up 12 points from his past two outings in the league, as Wan-Bissaka provided his first assist of the season against Aston Villa.

Man United's new found solid defence come up against a Burnley side who have struggled to find the back of the net this season.

Midfielders

Midfield magic! These two midfielders play very attacking roles for their respective teams.

Star Signing - Kevin De Bruyne (£11.6m)

City's Belgian playmaker's 13 point-haul against Chelsea makes him a top captaincy pick as we head into Gameweek 18.

Pep's men face Brighton next, who conceded 3 goals in their last outing against Wolves.

Bargain Buy - Bukayo Saka (£5.3m)

Arsenal's star boy Bukayo Saka has picked up 27 points in the previous 3 gameweeks!

The Gunners host Crystal in their next league game, and will hope to build on their 4-0 win against West Brom, as they look to make it four league wins in a row.

Forwards

The talismen! These two English strikers are great options for GW 18.

Star Signing - Harry Kane (£11.0m)

The England captain picked up 12 points in his last fixture against Leeds, as Spurs duo Son and Kane linked up once again to secure the win.

Mourinho's men travel to Villa Park next, where they face a resilient Aston Villa defence.

Bargain Buy - Wilson (£6.5m)

Despite having not scored for three games, Callum Wilson is a top Gameweek 18 option.

Newcastle face a Sheffield United side who have already conceded 29 goals this season.

How to plan for upcoming Blank and Double Gameweeks

Managers must begin to plan ahead after the first Double Gameweek of 2020/21 FPL was confirmed.

Five matches that were originally scheduled for Gameweek 18 have been moved into Gameweek 19.

As a result, 10 sides will now blank in Gameweek 18 and instead play twice in the following round of fixtures.

The remaining 10 sides will play one match in each Gameweek.

Time to play your Wildcard?

There are a number of tactics to consider, with much depending on the number of chips still available to each manager.

Those with their first Wildcard remaining should look to play this in Gameweek 16, taking in as much information as possible on potential line-ups and injuries before finalising their squads.

Handily, the second Wildcard of the season is available once the Gameweek 16 deadline of 13:30 GMT on Monday 28 December has passed.

By playing their second Wildcard in Gameweek 17, managers could build their squads with players from Double Gameweek sides such as Chelsea, Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Mo Salah and Bruno Fernandes will be major armband contenders for their two matches, while Jamie Vardy, Patrick Bamford and Jarrod Bowen play at home twice.

Use free transfers instead?

There is a strong case for remaining patient with the second Wildcard.

Many managers will instead focus their six free transfers from Gameweeks 14-19 on players with a Double Gameweek 19.

They can then play their Free Hit chip in Gameweek 18 to navigate the limited schedule and fill their squad with players who have a fixture.

Big-hitters from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, along with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Wilfried Zaha and Callum Wilson, will be key targets in Gameweek 18.

Those managers could then play their Bench Boost chip in Double Gameweek 19, earning points from every player in their squad.

By using the second Wildcard in Gameweek 20, they can refresh their players for the subsequent fixtures.
