After a hectic weekend of FA Cup action, the Premier League returns mid-week!
So here are the top FPL options as we head into Gameweek 18.
It's all about clean sheet points for the GKs!
Star Signing - Ederson (£6.0m)
Man City have kept 5 clean sheets in their previous 7 Premier League games.
Pep's side have a favourable run of fixtures ahead of them, including games against Brighton, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Sheffield Utd.
Bargain Buy - Karl Darlow (£5.0m)
The Newcastle 'keeper is sure to keep his first team spot, following the return of team-mate Martin Dubravka.
The Magpies face Sheffield Utd in their next league fixture, who have been struggling to find the back of the net all season.
Defensive stability. Here are out top defensive options ahead of GW 18.
Star Signing - Kieran Tierney (£5.4m)
The Arsenal left-back has been a big success in attack and defence in recent weeks in Fantasy, as Tierney has combined a goal and two assists with two clean sheets in the last three Gameweeks.
He has earned 28 points over those matches, helping Arsenal claim wins over Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion and West Bromwich Albion.
Bargain Buy - Ciaran Clark (£4.5m)
The Newcastle United centre-back is owned by just 0.8 per cent of managers for his visit to Sheffield United.
Clark’s prospects for points at both ends of the pitch look promising at Bramall Lane, as Steve Bruce's men face a Sheff Utd side which has struggled in attack recently, failing to score in each of their last three matches.
Mesmerising midfielders! Attacking returns everywhere you look with these two!
Star Signing - Kevin De Bruyne (£11.7m)
The Manchester City midfielder is the most-bought player in the Gameweek, earning 308,000+ new owners ahead of a home encounter with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Three of De Bruyne’s four double-figure hauls have come in his last seven appearances.
Bargain Buy - Pedro Neto (£6.0m)
Neto has scored against Southampton and Chelsea, as well as supplying assists against Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur in his last five appearances at Molineux.
He has also earned four bonus points, totalling 30 points over that period.
North London rivals! These two strikers may be enemies on the pitch, but could make a great partnership for your FPL team.
Star Signing - Harry Kane (£11.0m)
Tottenham Hotspur pair Son Heung-min and Harry Kane will be heavily backed in Gameweek 18.
Kane ranks third overall in FPL, with 125 points - his 31 shots away from home rank second overall.
Bargain Buy - Alexandre Lacazette (£8.3m)
The French number 9 has produced 27 points over the last three Gameweeks.
Lacazette has scored four of his seven goals for the season during that period, and would be a great differential for your FPL team.
How to plan for upcoming Blank and Double Gameweeks
Managers must begin to plan ahead after the first Double Gameweek of 2020/21 FPL was confirmed.
Five matches that were originally scheduled for Gameweek 18 have been moved into Gameweek 19.
As a result, 10 sides will now blank in Gameweek 18 and instead play twice in the following round of fixtures.
The remaining 10 sides will play one match in each Gameweek.
Time to play your Wildcard?
There are a number of tactics to consider, with much depending on the number of chips still available to each manager.
Those with their first Wildcard remaining should look to play this in Gameweek 16, taking in as much information as possible on potential line-ups and injuries before finalising their squads.
Handily, the second Wildcard of the season is available once the Gameweek 16 deadline of 13:30 GMT on Monday 28 December has passed.
By playing their second Wildcard in Gameweek 17, managers could build their squads with players from Double Gameweek sides such as Chelsea, Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Mo Salah and Bruno Fernandes will be major armband contenders for their two matches, while Jamie Vardy, Patrick Bamford and Jarrod Bowen play at home twice.
Use free transfers instead?
There is a strong case for remaining patient with the second Wildcard.
Many managers will instead focus their six free transfers from Gameweeks 14-19 on players with a Double Gameweek 19.
They can then play their Free Hit chip in Gameweek 18 to navigate the limited schedule and fill their squad with players who have a fixture.
Big-hitters from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, along with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Wilfried Zaha and Callum Wilson, will be key targets in Gameweek 18.
Those managers could then play their Bench Boost chip in Double Gameweek 19, earning points from every player in their squad.
By using the second Wildcard in Gameweek 20, they can refresh their players for the subsequent fixtures.
