Latest - Matchmaking Downtime Confirmed
Matchmaking will be disabled at 20:25 BST in preparation for Operation Sky Fire.
Once down, the only playlist option will be for the event itself. You can enter the lobby from this time also to get ready for it to go live. There is a max lobby size of 16 when the event begins.
How to Watch Operation Sky Fire in Fortnite
Fortunately, it's pretty easy to attend events like these in Fortnite. All matchmaking should be paused around 30 minutes before Operation Sky Fire begins.
On Sunday, 12 September, make sure you're logged into Fortnite with plenty of time to spare before the 21:00 BST / 16:00 EST / 13:00 PST start time. This allows you to get through any potential server queues.
Once in the game, only one playlist will be available to play during the event. It's literally unmissable! There may be a pre-event lobby like with the Rift Tour which will act as a social space to relax before Operation Sky Fire begins.
What we know so far...
We have only had a few official teases for Operation Sky Fire up to now. The lastest is the best of the bunch. In what appears to be a voice clip from Sunny, who is well known for wanting to welcome the aliens to the island, we're warned about Doctor Slone.
Not only does Sunny insinuate that Slone is unprepared for the coming battle, but that the alien mothership is housing something that no one is aware of. This could be a hint towards either The Cube or The Foundation.
We also received some good places posters of The Foundation is the most recent PlayStation Showcase during an advert. They were well hidden but fans naturally picked them out within minutes of it going live.
This is one of the most hyped events in recent Fortnite history, make sure you're there to see the action unfold!
