At the age of only 14, Kyle "Mongraal" Johnson has established himself as one of the most successful and skillful players in competitive Fortnite history. After making his name known in 2018 during Keemstar's Friday Fortnite weekly pub stomping tournaments, Mongraal built a loyal community intrigued by his high octane intense game-play along with his jolly personality.

Going into the World Cup Qualifiers, Mongraal was considered a heavy favorite in both solos and duos along with fellow UK representative Benjy "Benjyfishy" Fish. Although Mongraal secured his duo qualification in the opening week with his partner Dmitri "Mitr0" Van de Vrie, he was less fortunate in multiple solo qualifiers. Placing ninth in the kick off week which put him right outside the top eight for a spot at the Finals, Mongraal faced adversity over the next few solo weeks.

Facing immense pressure, the final solo week was Mongraal's redemption. Finishing at 63 points which netted him a comfortable fifth place finish, he ultimately secured his double qualification for the World Cup Finals. The UK will be well represented in New York City, with the trio of Mongraal, Benjyfishy and Jake "smeef" Smith all considered contenders to take home the major cut $30 million prize pool, maybe it will finally come home for England.

EU Solo Qualified Players

Europe will be sending 40 players to the Finals in New York City which will be the most represented region, leading North America East by 10 players. EU also fields contenders such as Klaus "Stompy" Konstanzer, who at one time placed in qualification territory 5/7 times, and Martin “MrSavageM” Foss Andersen who is widely considered as one of the best players in the world.

Will a European be crowned the king of solos at the Fortnite World Cup Finals? Will favorites such as Stompy and Benjyfishy perform on a world stage or will they crumble under the immense pressure of millions watching?

So many questions are up in the air for now, but all will be answered in New York City next month when the battle bus begins its drop to determine the solo champion of the world.
