We are just days away from Fortnite Season 8 and it's time to look towards Update 18.00. As with any season starting update, it's sure to be a big one in so many different ways. We may not know a huge amount about Season 8's content but that won't stop us from getting excited!
Here's what we know about Fortnite Update 18.00 so far...
Latest - Downtime expected soon
The servers downtime for Fortnite Season 8 is due to begin as soon as Operation Sky Fire is over.
This downtime is likely to last through until the update is complete anytime on Monday, 13 September. It's also possible that servers do not return until the typical update day of Tuesday.
Fortnite Update 18.00 Release Date and Time
Fortnite Update 18.00 will go live on Tuesday, 14 September. Tuesday has been the typical update date for Fortnite so it's no surprise that Season 8 is set to kick off on this day also.
Severs will go down on the day to allow the update to go live. We expect the downtime to start at 09:00 BST / 04:00 EST / 01:00 PST. Again, these are the typical times for updates and we see no reason it should change now.
The size of the update is currently unknown. We would an approximate 5-10GB download file but not entirely as additional content. Like many live-service games, the update will replace a lot of the existing game files with new ones meaning the overall size of the game shouldn't grow or change too much.
Cube Skin to be added in Update 18.00?
It could be linked to the end of season Operation Sky Fire event instead. We could be looking at an antagonist from the event who will play a part in the transition from Season 7 to 8. We hope to learn more about the update including how my changes it contains over the next week.
