The Fortnite Crew Pack is a brand new monthly subscription that was launched at the start of Chapter 2 Season 5.
But only two months in, Epic Games are already looking at ways to change and improve the subscription.
What Is Included In The Crew Pack?
Each month players will receive,
- Battle Pass Included for the full Season - As a member of the Fortnite Crew, you’ll always have access to the current season’s Battle Pass!
- 1,000 V-Bucks Each Month - Fortnite Crew members will receive 1,000 V-Bucks every month. Spend it on your favorite Item Shop content!
- Get A New Monthly Crew Pack! - Get an exclusive Fortnite Crew Pack, an always-new Outfit Bundle that only Fortnite Crew members get.
Is The Crew Pack Good Value For Money?
The Crew Pack costs £9.99/$11.99, 1,000 V-Bucks costs £6.49/$7.99.
This means that players pay £3.50/$4 for a new skin bundle, which would likely cost 1,500 V-Bucks had it been sold in the store, approximately £9.73/$11.98, as well as receiving the new seasons Battle Pass, which costs 950 V-Bucks, approximately £6.16/$7.59.
In total that means that for the price of the Crew Pack, players get approximately £22.38/$27.56 worth of items.
One downside is that players don't get a choice in the skin they will get, it is the same for everyone each month, but players also have the option to not resubscribe if they don't want the skin.
Also, if you already have the current seasons Battle Pass then you don't get anything extra, or a discount, so that is value lost.
Subscribers who already own the current Battle Pass will instead get £16.22/$19.97 worth of items, still good value for money though.
Improving The Crew Pack
In a recent blog post, Epic Games announced they are looking to improve the Crew Pack.
"As part of our commitment to deliver Fortnite Crew members the best experience possible, our team is working hard to eliminate current issues, prevent future ones, and bring more cool content and features."
Epic Games didn't say what they were working on improvement, but it is likely various loopholes that exist in the service.
They may be working on adding extra value to subscribers that already own the current Battle Pass.
There is also a loophole that could be exploited, in that if players subscribe in the middle of the month they will receive both months skin for one subscription payment.
And if the next season falls in that month, they will get the Battle Pass too, and I'm sure you don't need me to get my calculator out again to tell you that is great value for money, but also annoying to us that subscribed on day one, meaning our subscription rolls over at the start of the month.
It is likely that we will see it so the free skin is given out once you've subscribed, meaning if you subscribe on January 15th, you won't get the February skin on February 1st, but instead on February 15th when your subscription renews.
While Epic Games irons out these kinks, they are giving the Members Only emote away for free to all past and current subscribers of the Crew Pack.
To receive the emote, players need to log in to Fortnite before February 15th 2021.
February 2021 Crew Pack Skin
So far in the two months the Crew Pack has been out we have seen one original and one collaborative skin.
The first skin was an original skin called Galaxia, which is a really great skin that I would have bought in the Item Shop anyway, and DC's Green Arrow.
Epic Games have said that next month they will be adding another original character who is "a new face from the world of Fortnite that players should look forward to!"
