Fortnite: Challenge a Character to a Duel and Defeat Them Quest Guide

Week 13 of Fortnite Season 3 brought with it a new batch of quests for players to complete and earn XP while levelling up their battle pass before Season 4 arrives.

One of these quests requires you to go to one of three locations on the battle royale island, approach an NPC and challenge them to a duel before defeating them for 15,000XP.

How Does Dueling Work?

To initiate a duel, you will first need to find a location where an NPC that you can duel is located and approach them. These characters act like normal NPCs, opening with a line of dialogue, a free item and giving the player some options.

One of these options is a duel, represented by some crossed weapons. Selecting that will blast the player back to a safe distance where a shootout between them and the NPC will begin.

Whoever survives is the winner and if the player is successful, they will get some Epic-rarity loot from the body of the eliminated opponent, making Duels a great way for some guaranteed loot.

Who to Duel and Where?

There are currently three characters in Fortnite that the player can duel if they so desire, all of which provide the player with some useful loot when defeated. Below we show each of them and where they can be found.

Sabina

The first NPC might be familiar to those who have worked their way through the battle pass as Sabina can be found up to the Northern end of the map at the location of "Shell or High Water", a large mansion-like home with a hedge maze to the West of Sleepy Sound on the cliffs.

Panther

The second NPC that can be challenged to a duel in this quest is Panther. This NPC is located in the large gas station towards the South of the map slightly North-East of Rocky Reels.

Mancake

The final NPC is the Syrup-y gunslinger Mancake who is sort of the figurehead for the NPC duel mechanic due to his western style. You can challenge this breakfast brawler to an early-morning duel at Rocky Reels.

For players running Duos looking for an easy way to get both party members this quest, landing at Rocky Reels, doing the Mancake duel before heading up to the gas station to complete the Panther duel.
