The Bounty feature was only introduced in Fortnite back in December 2020 and seemed more like a way to shoehorn in a feature that had become popular in other Battle Royale games. Bounties are prominent in Warzone where they feature frequently all over the map, that's not quite how it works in Fortnite though.
Let's show you where all the bounty boards are in Fortnite and what their purpose is.
All Bounty Board Locations In Fortnite
As of Fortnite Season 7, there are 13 total bounty board locations across the island. They are all well spread out meaning you should never be too far away from one if you need it.
If you approach and interact with a bounty board, you are set on a mission to eliminate another player and given their approximate real-time location. There's a healthy reward for completing this but you are time-limited and will not receive the reward should someone else eliminate your target.
Purpose Of Bounties In Fortnite
Bounties in Fortnite don't really serve any great purpose. In countless games since their introduction, we rarely see them used. Sometimes when you interact with an NPC, they can offer you a mission to complete a bounty.
There may also be weeks where completing or starting a bounty is part of the weekly quests like Season 7, Week 8 where you must complete three bounties for 30,000 XP. This is another way that they are similar to the bounty contracts in Warzone. It does, however, feel like Warzone has used them in a way that encourages players to use them rather than being just an optional feature.
Overall, bounties are supposed to be a feature that isn't forced upon the player but is there should they wish to use it. It adds some variety to the game and even if the large majority of players don't engage with it, the option is there.
