With a large transfer budget, you have significant room for manouevre in the transfer market to bring in your own personnel. Your biggest problem as Chelsea manager will be at the heart of defence as Chelsea’s centre-backs are aging somewhat. Kurt Zouma is the youngest, though he starts on the injury list.

Transfer budget: £40,000,000

Wage budget: £2,984,038

Position Player Current Rating Potential Rating Age Nationality Value
Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic 3 3 29 Bosnia £18.5m
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois 4 4 24 Belgium £28.5m

Absolutely no issues between the sticks for Chelsea as they have one of the world’s best ‘keepers in Thibaut Courtois who has a four star current and potential rating. Asmir Begovic is also good quality backup if and when the Belgian is injured.

Position Player Current Rating Potential Rating Age Nationality Value
Defender Branislav Ivanovic 3 3 32 Serbia £3m
Defender Kurt Zouma 3 3 21 France £28.5m
Defender John Terry 2.5 2.5 35 England £2.6m
Defender Gary Cahill 2.5 2.5 30 England £6m
Defender David Luiz 3 2.5 29 Brazil £21.5m
Defender John Obi Mikel 3 3 29 Nigeria £12m
Defender Nathaniel Chalobah 2 3 21 England £4.6m
Defender Cesar Azpilicueta 3.5 3.5 26 Spain £26.5m
Defender Marcos Alonso 3 3 25 Spain £21m

At the heart of defence, Chelsea have an aging core of centre-backs in Cahill, Terry and Luiz and this is going to be a big concern. Note that Terry will not command any fee really given his age. Emphasis should be placed on Zouma who is 21 and a top talent. Azpilicueta and Alonso are decent fullbacks, but if you want to challenge for the title, you’d be best to upgrade. It might also be worth sending Chalobah on loan.

Position Player Current Rating Potential Rating Age Nationality Value
Midfielder Nemanja Matic 3 3 27 Serbia £33.5m
Midfielder N’Golo Kante 4 4 25 France £32.5m
Midfielder Ruben Loftus Cheek 2 2.5 20 England £3.3m
Midfielder Oscar 3.5 4 24 Brazil £38.5m
Midfielder Victor Moses 2.5 2.5 25 Nigeria £14m
Midfielder Willian 4 4 27 Brazil £32.5m
Midfielder eden Hazard 4.5 4.5 25 Belgium £50m
Midfielder Cesc Fabregas 4 4 29 Spain £29m
Midfielder Marco van Ginkel 2.5 3 23 Netherlands £12m

Chelsea actually have good depth in midfield and one of the best players on the game in Eden Hazard. Give as much creative freedom to this man as possible and he will dominate. Moreover, in Kante and Matic, you will have a very solid centre and they can provide good cover for your defence. Also note the high current ratings of Oscar, Willian and Fabregas. Not too many changes will be necessary here.

Position Player Current Rating Potential Rating Age Nationality Value
Striker Pedro 3.5 3.5 28 Spain £29m
Striker Michy Batshuayi 2.5 3 22 Belgium £13.75m
Striker Diego Costa 4 4 27 Spain £35m

Up top, you have Diego Costa who will bang the goals in consistently, given his four star rating. It may be worth moving Pedro on if you want funds, though Chelsea do start with a £40million budget.
