FM 16 Everton – Everton’s squad on FM 16 Everton – Everton’s squad on Football Manager is made for an FM fairytale. They have some of football’s best young players and a fair few veterans supporting them, meaning the possibilities here can be endless. You could realistically try to aim for Champions League football in your first-season, even with a small transfer budget. But then again, you could also slip into mid-table mediocrity if you don’t use this team properly, and be at risk of all your best players forcing moves elsewhere. It’s a slippery slope, but it can be done…

We’ve given you the minimum and maximum budget available, depending on what your expectations are. Transfer Budget – £2.25m – 3.08m Wage Budget – £1.29m – 1.53m

FM 16: Every Premier League Team’s Transfer/Wage Budget Revealed

Key players to build your team around

The following players should never be sold and should form the spine of your team for the foreseeable future. Some are obvious choices, others less so, but none of the following players are easily replaced.

FM 16: Premier League Wonderkids XI

Romelu Lukaku (22)

It goes without saying but Lukaku is an animal on FM, and should never be sold. But if for whatever reason he does force a move away from Goodison Park, you could get at least £50m for him, but why would you ever want to do that?

Ross Barkley (20)

Barkley has the ability to become of the league’s best centre midfielders in a few years, but like Lukaku and Stones, he won’t stick around long if your team doesn’t move in the right directionJohn Stones (21)

Everton possibly have one of the most FM-friendly squads in the entire game from defence to up-front. At the heart of your defence should be Stones, who also stays fairly injury-free on FM. In one game save, he missed just 6 games in 5 seasons. Put simply, he’s a tank and somewhat irreplaceable given Everton’s finances.

Best youngsters to keep an eye on

The best players on your side that are 21 or younger that you need to keep an eye out for in future. If the player is under 21 and is already someone to build your team round, they won’t be included in this list. Keep the following players either to integrate into your first-team or to sell for a high price later on, and make sure they get enough game-time throughout the season to keep them happy (around 10-15 starts).

FM 16: Europe’s Best Wonderkids XI

Gerard Deulofeu (21)

Deulofeu is a key part of Everton’s core and is already playing at 3.5 of his 4.5-star potential, meaning he’s good right now with the potential to become great, but is also a player who is sometimes inconsistent.

Brendan Galloway (19)

He’s a little raw to begin with, but becomes a real asset as he’s versatile, and fills in well at both CB and LB. Just be sure to give him enough game-time, otherwise this could happen:

Players you should consider letting go of

The following are players who could be easily replaced for one reason or another.

Steven Naismith

Everton need a better back-up striker for Lukaku, so selling Naismith gives you an extra £6.5m which almost doubles your transfer budget.

Aiden McGeady

At 29, McGeady’s best years are well and truly behind him so if you can get around £5m for him, you’ve done very well.

Recommended signings

After selling Fernando and Navas, you should have around £30m to spend.

Premier League’s Best Wonderkids

Breel Donald Embolo

Basel – £11-13m If ever a team needs a new starting centre forward, I will almost always suggest signing Embolo, who using this guide, can be signed rather cheaply. An agile, quick and talented striker to go alongside Lukaku, who is also capable of playing as a winger.

Jesus Navas

Man City – Loan You’re gonna need someone to fill the void left by Naismith/McGeady, as well as someone to keep Deulofeu on his toes, and Navas can be that guy.
