FIFA 23's Team of the Year (TOTY) promo is set to kick off in a matter of days!
The TOTY promo will reward the eleven top-performing players from the calendar year with massively upgraded special items in Ultimate Team.
With the voting period now open, users want to know when the TOTY will actually be revealed. Well, we've got you covered.
When will the TOTY XI be revealed?
As confirmed by the EA official page, the official Team of the Year XI will be revealed on Thursday, 19 January.
We can expect EA to make the announcement at 11am ET / 4pm GMT.
One more card will then be added to the XI, with the 12th Man vote opening ahead of the full TOTY's release into packs.
TOTY Icons inbound
@Fut Scoreboard, a Twitter account that mines data from the FIFA 23 game code, has revealed that two brand-new card types have been added!
The names given to the cards are 'TOTY Icon' and 'Alternate Reality Icon'.
Despite nothing being officially confirmed by EA just yet, it looks like TOTY Icons could be special cards dedicated to FIFA 23 Icons that have received a Team of the Year card in previous FIFAs.
This applies to a fairly long list of players, including the following:
- Wayne Rooney
- Iker Casillas
- Steven Gerrard
- Philipp Lahm
- Xavi Alonso
- Xavi
- Nemanja Vidic
We expect both the TOTY Icons and Alternate Reality Icons to be introduced to FUT 23 at some point during the Team of the Year campaign.
There is a slim chance that the TOTY Icons could be cosmetic items that can be purchased in the FUT Store, but we hope this is not the case.
