Passing Game

Even though we get annoyed when the bots make mistakes, they are surprisingly good at playing tika-taka football in FIFA 23.

If you find yourself with very few human players for your Pro Clubs sessions this could be the controlled way of play for your side.

To do this you will want to use these tactics:

Defence

  • Defensive Style: Balanced
  • Width: 40 - 60
  • Depth: 45 - 55

Offence

  • Build Up Play: Slow Build Up
  • Chance Creation: Possession
  • Width: 45 - 60

EMULATE THE BEST - Xavi was part of the Barca side that dominated using tika-taka tactics

This is best used with a 4-1-2-1-2 formation, or a 4-2-3-1, one that really packs the midfield with players.

The idea is to allow the bots to keep popping the ball around until you (as one of the attacking players) find a gap and call for a ball through.

You can use this tactic with multiple humans playing in the midfield and forward positions, however, your communication needs to be on point!

Counter-Attack

Simple and effective, playing counter-attacking football should present you with several clear-cut chances a game, so make sure you have confident finishes up top.

You will need to ride your luck with AI defending for large parts, but as soon as your side wins the ball back you spring quick and direct.

To do this you will want to use these tactics:

Defence

  • Defensive Style: Balanced
  • Width: 30 - 45
  • Depth: 20 - 30

Offence

  • Build Up Play: Long Ball
  • Chance Creation: Direct Passing
  • Width: 70+

Although your defensive line needs to be deep to invite the opposition forward, it is important that your team isn't defending passively, and that's why we go for a Balanced style instead of Drop Back.

If the opposition has players who can ping a long shot into the top corner with ease then you will need to change this tactic immediately.

This is best used with a five-at-the-back formation to really shield the box, with two or three players up top who just wait for the opportunity to pounce.

Wing Play

One of the easiest and most effective tactics in FIFA 23 Pro Clubs is playing with a forward three that are maxed out on pace, using long balls out wide and driving crosses into the box.

It is surprisingly easy to get in behind the defence, then play a simple ball across the box and tap it into the net.

OWN THE WINGS - Use pace to exploit the space in behind teams

To do this you will want to use these tactics:

Defence

  • Defensive Style: Balanced
  • Width: 45 - 60
  • Depth: 40 - 50

Offence

  • Build Up Play: Balanced
  • Chance Creation: Direct Passing
  • Width: 70+

Any formation with a variation of three attacking players (or more) can utilise this game plan, with the 4-3-3 an obvious option that can also adapt well to other game plans.

The set tactics aren't as important for this one, it is more important that the attacking players are all human controlled and on the same page regarding the gameplan.
