In this piece we are looking for at a very specific age range of player. To be eligible for our list players must be aged between 20-24 when the FIFA 23 career mode starts.

Anyone younger qualifies for our wonderkid left back list while obviously anyone older is no longer a young player! Then, of course, they have to have their best position at left back. Those that play centre back but can cover LB, like Josko Gvardiol, don't qualify. The same goes for midfielders like Eduardo Camavinga that sometimes get deployed at left back.

Theo Hernandez (OVR 85 - POT 90)

Age: 24

Nation: France

He might not be the most obvious pick, but Theo Hernandez is the best young left back in FIFA 23. The AC Milan fullback came up with Atletico Madrid but moved across town to Real Madrid in 2017 after they activated his €24 million release clause. He never really clicked there and moved to AC Milan two years later where he truly blossomed.

Herandez starts FIFA 23 as an athletic left back with a quality end product. He's got 94 sprint speed, 92 acceleration, and 90 stamina to push up and down the flank all game, while his 84 crossing, 83 dribbling, and 79 short passing means he can get involved in every attack.

Alphonso Davies (OVR 84 - POT 89)

Team: Bayern Munich

Age: 21

Nation: Canada

Canada is hardly known as a hotbed of footballing talent, but Alphonso Davies is a world-class fullback already. He made the move from Vancouver straight to Bayern Munich in July 2018 for a reported maximum of $22 million. Since then Davies has grown into one of the best left backs in the world.

Davies' is another rapid left back, with 96 acceleration, 94 sprint speed, and 86 agility. He's also deadly on the ball with 85 crossing, 85 dribbling, and 82 short passing. He is comfortable playing further up the field too, if you want to start our next pick behind him...

Noussair Mazroaui (OVR 82 - POT 85)

Nation: Morocco

Morocco is the place to go for fullbacks it seems, with Noussair Mazroaui joining countryman Achraf Hakimi as one of the best fullbacks in FIFA 23. Mazroaui came up with Ajax and got his debut with them at the age of 18. He moved to Bayern in the summer of 2022.

Mazroaui isn't as fast as others, but is still a strong left back choice in FIFA 23. He's got 86 agility, 85 stamina, and 83 sprint speed to get around the field. His 83 dribbling, 83 short passing, and 79 crossing to be a good attacking force as well.

Nuno Mendes (OVR 82 - POT 89)

Team: PSG

Age: 20

Nation: Portugal

Nuno Mendes burst onto the scene in 2020 with Sporting and quickly became one of the hottest properties in world football. In August 2021 he moved to PSG on a loan-to-buy deal that ended up costing €38 million, which is a snip.

Mendes is another flier in FIFA 23. He's got 90 acceleration, 89 sprint speed, and 82 balance. He's not as good on the ball as others, with 78 dribbling, 78 crossing, and 78 short passing, but it is plenty good enough to start with. He's also only 20, so there is a lot of growth to come.

Welington Dano (OVR 81 - POT 81)

Team: Atletic Mineiro

Age: 22

Nation: Brazil

In FIFA 23 Welington Dano is a great buy for any European club that can afford him. He's got 89 stamina, 80 sprint speed, and 78 accleration but excels on the ball with 82 crossing, 78 short passing, and 77 dribbling.

He's also a solid defender, with 81 sliding tackle, 82 composure, and 77 standing tackle.
