FIFA 23: Party time as African National teams WILL be added to the game

The Team of the Season promo in Ultimate Team signals the winding down of the FIFA 22 cycle, with FIFA 23 just over the horizon.

We've seen quite a bit of news come out recently for the last game between EA and FIFA, including Icon and FUT Heroes leaks!

Not only that, but more National teams are set to be added to the game for a very underrepresented continent, and you can find out about them below.

Say WHAT?!

With much of our time on FIFA spent playing Ultimate Team and Career Mode, we often don't always notice what's going on with the National Teams on the game.

Yes, you may have your eyes on becoming the France manager in addition to your current club duties, and you might challenge a mate to an International game in friendlies, but apart from that, we don't give those teams much attention.

So, depending on how much you play kick-off games, it may come as a surprise to learn that no African National sides feature in FIFA 22!

However, this is set to change in FIFA 23...

Winning World Cup

A World Cup game mode has already been revealed by EA, with us expecting to see the Men's and Women's tournaments coming via DLC at some point in the upcoming game's cycle.

This has somewhat forced the inclusion of additional national teams, with five African sides qualified for the men's 2022 event in Qatar.

COMING SOON - It's been a long wait since the last World Cup game mode

With the World Cup game mode being a big draw in FIFA 23, the game makers will want to make it as realistic as possible, and leaving out teams is just unacceptable.

So, what African sides will be added to FIFA 23?

Africans Arriving

It doesn't take any guesswork to know what African National Teams will be added to FIFA 23 for the World Cup mode, with places secured for the following sides:

  • Cameroon
  • Ghana
  • Morocco
  • Senegal
  • Tunisia

Although these teams should be added for the World Cup mode, we don't yet know if they will be available to use in kick-off or Career Mode, but it seems stupid if they are not.

Five African sides are five more than we currently have, but EA could still add more.

Mo Salah is one of the most high-profile players on the planet, and yet you can't use his Egypt national side in-game.

Including the Ivory Coast - or Cote d'Ivoire - would let you field a team with the likes of Sebastian Haller, Franck Kessie, Wilfried Zaha, and Seko Fofana (to name but a few).

We hope to see even more than the five World Cup qualified teams added to FIFA 23, but we will have to wait and see.
