FIFA 22 TOTY to mirror FIFPro XI with relentless forward set to miss out

If you didn't know by now, the Team of the Year Ultimate XI will be officially revealed in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team on Thursday, 20 January.

With some of the highest-rated FUT items set to be released in the game, excitement is understandably high!

However, not all fans are thrilled with the supposed team that has been leaked with some huge names omitted from the squad.

TOTY Key Dates

Now that the voting has closed we are waiting to see who made the final cut.

Thankfully, we needn't wait for long, as EA has announced when the announcement will come!

NOT LONG NOW - The Team of the Year will be released soon

We don't know a time yet, but on Thursday, 20 January, we will see who makes the Ultimate XI.

This could be released during the day like the nominees, or on a loading screen at 1pm ET / 6pm GMT, so keep your eyes peeled.

Confirmed TOTY Schedule:

  • Friday, 7 January - Forward Nominees revealed
  • Saturday, 8 January - Midfield Nominees revealed
  • Sunday, 9 January - Defender & Goalkeeper Nominees revealed
  • Monday, 10 January - Voting begins
  • Tuesday, 17 January - Voting closes
  • Thursday, 20 January - Ultimate XI revealed

This suggests that the first Team of the Year cards will arrive in packs on Friday, 21 January.

We must stress that this release date is yet to be confirmed, but it does look the most likely.

The TOTY will be released into packs at approximately 1pm ET / 6pm GMT on the day of release.

No Salah

What? Sorry? Surely this cannot be right. Liverpool superstar Mo Salah is apparently set to miss out on FIFA 22's Team of the Year after missing out on FIFPro's World XI!

37 goals for Liverpool in 2021 apparently is not enough for Salah to make the cut this season, and that will certainly raise some eyebrows.

PHENOMENAL - Salah has been sensational for club and country

Salah was directly involved in 35 goals in the Premier League in 2021 (24 goals, 11 assists), which is 11 more than the closest player!

While the competition for the attacking spots in TOTY is exceptionally fierce, Salah has surely done enough to warrant selection alongside Robert Lewandowski.

Ultimate XI leaked

It looks like the FIFA 22 Team of the Year will be very similar to the FIFAPro World XI, in that both include some questionable decisions!

The FIFPro World XI selected a team that lines up in the classic 3-3-4 formation, so at least EA's XI will be in a proper shape.

It looks as though there will be no less than five PSG players in EA's Team of the Year though which is utterly absurd considering they didn't even win the French league!

Gianluigi Donnarumma and Lionel Messi both won international trophies, but the likes of Mohamed Salah and Antonio Rudiger will surely feel aggrieved at missing out.
