There should still be plenty to get excited about, but for now the online version looks to be on the backburner.
Unsurprisingly there has been no word on when FIFA 22 will officially be released, but we can have a pretty accurate guess.
FIFA 22 will likely be released between Friday, 24 September and Friday, 8 October, 2021, judging by the release in previous years.
There was a glimpse of the game yesterday when the Beta was briefly made available, but for now the wait goes on.
We could see further improvements to Career Mode in the new game as EA showed some love for the classic mode in their latest title, including a potential 'Online Career Mode'.
Every Career Mode fan loves a wonderkid too, and there should be some great ones on FIFA 22.
It looks like Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham will battle it out for midfield dominance, but they could have some new competition from Xavi Simons.

A reason for hope
Earlier this month - @UltimateTeamUK showcased a snippet of an EA job - which stated an "online career mode" for the FIFA franchise.
The FIFA community went into bedlam - failing to contain their excitement around the mode.
We could only fantasise about an Online Career Mode - which perhaps could let you take a squad you've built over a number of seasons and compete online, or have online divisions where everyone can't have the same players like in Ultimate Team.
The show's over?
The FIFA 22 Closed Beta and the community head over heels for almost 24 hours, before EA decided the leaks were too much and took the platform down.
@FUTZONECENTRAL was showing off plenty of the leaks - and has now stated that although there will be new features in Career Mode - an Online version will not exist.
That said - this is only a Beta, and it's likely would have been keeping behind any game-breaking new features - so never say never when it comes to Online Career Mode.
