The Festival of FUTball has begun in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team, and we could be about to see our third brand-new card type of the promo!
In place of the now cancelled Team of the Week release, we could see a new 'Team of the Matchweek' take its place instead.
Festival of FUTball
FIFA 21's Festival of FUTball arrived on Friday, 11 June at 1pm ET / 6pm BST.
We are not sure how long the promo will run just yet, but we are sure to find out soon.
The Festival of FUTball is based on the stars of international tournaments, with it last seen on FIFA 18 for the 2018 World Cup.
In that event, there was a squad released after each 'matchday', so we could see something similar in FIFA 21.
No more TOTW
Since the end of the domestic season for Europe's major leagues, we have seen a halt in Team of the Week releases.
So far EA has not replaced the weekly releases with anything, although the Silver Stars objectives have continued as normal.
Initially, we speculated whether TOTW Moments could return as we pondered what is next for TOTW, but we could get our answer soon.
A Team of the Matchweek could be a like-for-like replacement, although you'd think that the nominal upgrades dished out in Team of the Week could prove futile so late in the FUT season.
Team of the Matchweek
By the time the usual Team of the Week slot rolls around on Wednesday, 16 June, almost every team will have played their first game in their respective competitions.
We have already seen some sensational performances, with Czech Republic's Patrick Schick arguably the star of the show so far.
Schick scored twice against Scotland, with his second from almost the halfway line in what could well be the goal of the tournament.
We have also seen match-winning performances from Romelu Lukaku, Neymar, and Ciro Immobile, so expect them to be included too.
If there is to be a Team of the Matchweek released, we think these 11 stars will feature.
- Lukas Hradecky (Finland)
- Denzel Dumfries (Netherlands)
- Milan Skrniar (Slovakia)
- Vladimir Coufal (Czech Republic)
- Thomas Meunier (Belgium)
- Georginio Wijnaldum (Netherlands)
- Kalvin Phillips (England)
- Neymar (Brazil)
- Romelu Lukaku (Belgium)
- Ciro Immobile (Italy)
- Patrick Schick (Czech Republic)
