After opening your welcome packs on the FIFA 20 Web App, it is unlikely that you will have an abundance of coins.
We built this 50k team using players with effective work rates for each position.
The team also allows a variety of game styles. Thus, it will be apt to playing tiki-taka or even a more expansive counter-attacking game style. What is important is that you adjust the team instructions and set up custom tactics that suit your preferred play style.
Formation & tactics
We favour a 4-2-3-1 formation as the two CDMs provide great defensive protection.
Make sure that their instructions are set to “stay back while attacking“, so essentially you have a block of 4 centrally. This formation is great defensively as you prevent goals occurring in the most probable way (down the middle).
Additionally, your four attackers support each other effectively and allow you to score goals with any one of them.
Lukas Hradecky (OVR 83)
Club: Bayer Leverkusen
Best stats: 86 reflexes, 85 diving, 82 positioning
Cost: 1.8k PS4 / 1.9k Xbox One
Lukas Hradecky is one of the best keeper options in the Bundesliga for a budget under 3k. Given his height of 6’4″ and high stats for the three must important goalkeeping stats, he is a bargain at under 2k coins.
There is a countless amount of goalkeeping options all within the 1-3k range, but Hradecky seemed to be the best package due to his height.
Achraf Hakimi (OVR 79)
Club: Borussia Dortmund
Best stats: 93 sprint speed, 84 stamina, 83 dribbling
Cost: 6k PS4 /6.8k Xbox One
Achraf Hakimi is incredibly fast while also able to last the full 90 minutes of running up and down the flank, thanks to his 84 stamina stat. He is one of the best all-round left backs in the Bundesliga and can only be seen to be inferior to Alaba who is significantly more expensive.
Just be mindful that the Morrocan international is right-footed when whipping balls into the box.
Niklas Stark (OVR 79)
Club: Hertha Berlin
Best stats: 82 standing tackle, 82 heading accuracy, 79 strength
Cost: 1k PS4/ 1k Xbox One
Niklas Stark is a real find this year on FIFA 20. He is 6’3″ while also having a combined pace stat of 78. One of the most important stats for a CB that is often overlooked is the standing tackle, and This determines how effective it is when you press to make a challenge.
Given that manual defending will be much more important in FIFA 20, Stark’s great defending stats will be a pertinent advantage.
Jonathan Tah (OVR 83)
Club: Bayer Leverkusen
Best stats: 93 strength, 87 standing tackle, 84 sliding tackle
Cost: 5.4k PS4 / 6k Xbox One
Tah has been an overpowered CB on FIFA for the last few years, and FIFA 20 is no different. His stats look remarkable, having 93 strength and still having 77 sprint speed.
The 6’5″ towering defender and should be able to manhandle most opposition strikers that you should face. With his defensive prowess, Tah is one of the first names on this team sheet.
Danny da Costa (OVR 79)
Club: Eintracht Frankfurt
Best stats: 92 stamina, 84 sprint speed, 81 jumping
Cost: 2.4k PS4 / 2.6k Xbox One
Last year, the Team of the Season (TOTS) card that Danny da Costa received was arguably the best RB card in the game.
His base card in FIFA 20 is overpowered once more, given his excellent strength, pace and defending stats. He truly can recover the ball in any part of the pitch, and his low price is a mystery given the way he plays.
Denis Zakaria (OVR 78)
Club: Borussia Monchengladbach
Best stats: 88 aggression, 86 sprint speed, 83 strength
Cost: 6.5k PS4/ 6.5k Xbox One
Denis Zakaria is a real tank in the midfield. He is 6ft 3 and completely dominates the middle of the park.
His strength and aggression combined with good speed make him a nightmare for the opposition. You may think the 6.5k price tag seems hefty, but it just reflects how good he is for a 78 rated card.
Kerem Demirbay (OVR 82)
Club: Bayer Leverkusen
Best stats: 86 dribbling, 86 vision, 85 short passing
Cost: 1.8k PS4/ 2.3k Xbox One
Kerem Demirbay has received a nice upgrade in FIFA 20 after his outstanding season last year in the Bundesliga. He may not have the best defensive stats, but he has decent interception stats at 71. He should then read the game well and then be able to either dribble through with his excellent 86 dribbling or thread a through pass with his 82 long passing.
He offers something different from Zakaria and allows you to have more creativity in the middle of the park.
Thiago (OVR 87)
Club: Bayern Munich
Best stats: 91 agility, 91 ball control, 90 short passing
Cost: 17.5k PS4 /17k Xbox One
Thiago is a bargain at this stage of the game. You may seem deterred by his 69 pace but for a central attacking midfielder, his pace is proficient. It is so satisfying to dribble with Thiago as he has 5-star skills and can hit any pass you want to do.

You can purchase Thiago now, knowing that his price will eventually rise in the next months, when more SBCs will be released. This happens because he has a high rating, so to satisfy the requirements people will purchase him meaning he is a good short-term investment.

Cost: 800 coins PS4 / 800 coins Xbox One
Jean-Paul Boetius is a real bargain in FIFA 20. He is not only quick, but has 80 curve and 89 agility, meaning finesse shots are effective with him. Plus, because of his extremely high agility, he will get out of tight spaces which is crucial in a closely contested match.
A good thing with Boetius is that he will have enough energy left late on in the game thanks to his 83 stamina.
Marcel Sabitzer (OVR 81)
Club: RB Leipzig
Best stats: 86 shot power, 84 stamina, 84 reactions
Cost: 1k PS4 / 1k Xbox One
To stay within the 50k budget, we opted for Marcel Sabitzer over RB Leipzig teammate Emil Forsberg. The main reason was the great shooting stats Sabitzer possesses, with 86 shot power which combined with 82 long shots, all. He has 79 finishing and 80 positioning, so he is clinical in the box as well.
His passing stats are pretty sharp, meaning he should be able to create good chances for your other attackers. A decent upgrade if you have the coins would be Havertz who is currently around 28k. He is a taller and quicker version of Sabitzer while also possessing more quality in most departments.
Yussuf Poulsen (OVR 81)
Club: RB Leipzig
Best stats: 87 stamina, 86 positioning, 85 heading accuracy
Cost: 1.5k PS4 / 1.9k Xbox One
Yussuf Poulsen spearheads the attack at striker. He is an amazing striker to play on his own since he is 6’4″ with good pace and strength. He can hold the ball up against almost any CB, which will help get the CAMs involved in your attacks.
Not only is he big, but Poulsen also has 86 positioning which means he will make even better runs, and be in the right places in the penalty box when you have the ball out wide.
Back the Bundesliga
Overall, this 50k FIFA 20 team has a great balance and feel to it. You get the benefits of having a solid, rigid and strong defence while also having quite a lot of creativity in attack.
If you like tall, strong teams, you are looking at an average height of 6’2″ so you will have chances to bully your opposition all over the park.
Plus, as you bring in more coins, you can add some top class Bundesliga players including Marco Reus (OVR 88), Philippe Coutinho (OVR 86) and Robert Lewandowski (OVR 89).
