They help open up defences and play in killer through balls to their attacking counter parts. Here is who we believe will be the highest overall LB’s on FIFA 20.

Jordi Alba (OVR 87 – 87)

Position: LB

Age: 30

Club: Barcelona

Country: Spain

One of the best left backs in the world, Jordi Alba was Barcelona’s only recognisable left back in the squad last season. Cover has arrived in the form of former Real Betis youngster Junior Firpo, but with less than two seasons of first team experience, expect Alba to be racking up the minutes for the next to campaigns at least.

The Spaniard is still one of the best in the business and will stay at 87 overall on FIFA 20.

Marcelo (OVR 88 – 86)

Position: LB

Age: 31

Club: Real Madrid

Country: Brazil

A regular under Zinedine Zidane, Marcelo briefly lost his place to youngster Sergio Reguilon last season. The Brazilian international is regarded as the best left back in the world but rumours are circulating that he wants to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.

He should still play a major role for Madrid, although his overall may drop to 86 on FIFA 20 he is still in the top three conversation, despite a poor campaign last year.

Andy Robertson (OVR 83 – 86)

Position: LB

Age: 25

Club: Liverpool

Country: Scotland

Andy Robertson has excelled as part of the best defence in the Premier League. The Scotsman also contributes at the other end, registering 11 assists from left-back as both him and Trent Alexander-Arnold (OVR 78) provide width when the Reds attack. Robertson is another who has established himself as one of the best in the world after a stellar season at Liverpool and should see his OVR reflect that on FIFA 20, with a rise to 86 fully deserved.

Alex Sandro (OVR 86 – 86)

Position: LB, LM

Age: 28

Club: Juventus

Country: Brazil

A crucial cog in the Juventus machine, Alex Sandro’s ability to get up and down the pitch make him effective in both attack and defence.

Although though regarded in that top bracket, an 86 overall will remain on FIFA 20 thanks to his qualities going forward (sometimes lining up as a left winger for Juventus).

David Alaba (OVR 85 – 85)

Position: LB, CB

Age: 27

Club: Bayern Munich

Country: Austria

David Alaba is a versatile player who has played across the defence and in midfield in successful career so far. The Austrian defender is somehow still only 27, and he possesses great quality on the ball. providing seven assists for his team mates last season.

Alaba’s 85 overall will not change on FIFA 20 as he continues to play a major role for Bayern, although his place is now under threat from new signing Lucas Hernandez…

Lucas Hernandez (OVR 83 – 84)

Position: LB, CB

Age: 23

Club: Bayern Munich

Country: France

Speak of the devil and he will appear. Having grown up in the Atletico Madrid academy, Lucas Hernandez declared a willingness to play for Spain just before receiving his first France call-up. Since the retirement of Patrice Evra, France have a decent selection to fill the shoes of the Manchester United legend.

It seems Didier Deschamps has put his money on Hernandez to be his starting left back, but with Bayern manager Niko Kovac do the same? If he picks up an 84 overall on FIFA 20, it will be tough to leave him out.

Alex Telles (OVR 84 – 84)

Position: LB

Age: 26

Club: FC Porto

Country: Brazil

The rapid full back is the full package when it comes to the left back position. With pace, passing and defending he is a solid player that could fit into many of the top flight teams across Europe. He managed double figure assists last season but fell short to Benfica for the league title.

Expect another strong season from the Brazilian, but perhaps a big money move is needed for him to catch up with the players ahead of him.
