FIFA 19 TOTW 9 predictions (Team of the Week 9)

Another international break is on its way, but with November internationals the last of the year, we are entering a crucial period in the domestic scene. This past weekend in the Premier League, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea remained unbeaten, with City grabbing the headlines with a 3-1 victory over rivals Manchester United.

Over in Spain, Barcelona lost at home for the first time in two years in a shock defeat to Real Betis, reducing the Catalans’ lead in La Liga to just one point. As for the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund won the Klassiker over Bayern Munich, and in the process pulled seven points ahead of Bayern in the table.

The top divisions in Italy and France look to be forgone conclusions already, with a 2-0 victory for Juventus over AC Milan giving the Old Lady a six-point lead in Serie A, and a 4-0 thrashing of the struggling Monaco making it 13 wins on the bounce for PSG.

So, in such a big weekend of footballing action, who could make the FIFA 19 Team of the Week? A squad of 23 players will be selected on FIFA Ultimate Team, and will receive an in-form boost to their FUT ratings. You can challenge the squad for a coin bonus, but if you want to get your hands on these in-form cards, you can find them in packs from the FUT Store or trade them in the transfer market. They will be released on Wednesday, 14 November and be available for the next seven days.

There were a few contenders for the goalkeeping position this week, but Walter Benitez’s penalty save against Nimes in Ligue 1 earns him the starting berth. The Nice ‘keeper ensured his side claimed a 1-0 victory, moving them up to seventh in the table and within four points of the European places.

Benitez’s 76 overall rating should increase to 80 this week. You can pick up his base card for 400 coins on PS4 and 450 on Xbox One.

Lukas Klostermann (OVR 75 – IF 79)

Lukas Klostermann produced a fantastic performance in RB Leipzig’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, picking up both a goal and assist. The victory takes Leipzig up to third in the Bundesliga, but still five points behind front runners Borussia Dortmund.

Klostermann has a 75 overall rating on FUT, and this should improve to a 79 in-form rating, and his right back position should move to right wing-back. The German’s base card costs just 650 coins on both consoles in Ultimate Team.

Souleymane Bamba (OVR 75 – IF 80)

Souleymane Bamba somehow escaped a booking for taking his shirt off after scoring at the weekend, but that should not detract from how vital his late winner was against Brighton. The centre back’s last-minute goal earned Cardiff just a second victory of the season and moves the Bluebirds level on points with Crystal Palace and Southampton.

The Ivorian’s 75 overall rating could receive a big increase to 80, with Bamba costing only 400 coins on PS4 and 500 on Xbox One in FUT.

Adil Rami (OVR 82 – IF 84)

A solid defender, Adil Rami showed his class going forward in Marseille’s victory over Dijon in Ligue 1. The French international had a hand in both goals in the 2-0 victory, scoring and picking up an assist to take OM up to sixth in the table.

Rami should rise by two from 82 to 84 on Ultimate Team, with his gold card valued at 1,500 coins on PS4 and 1,700 on Xbox One.

Cristian Tello (OVR 80 – IF 83)

Cristian Tello would have enjoyed Real Betis’ stunning 4-3 victory over Barcelona, with the Spaniard a former Barca player. Tello set up two goals at the Camp Nou, and should get their season going, with that just their fourth win of the season.

Tello should move from left to right midfield on Ultimate Team this week, with his 80 overall improving to 83. He costs just 750 coins on PS4 and 900 on Xbox One, a bargain for his 92 pace.

Thomas Partey (OVR 82 – IF 84)

An unsung hero in the Atletico Madrid side, Thomas Partey came to the fore in the 3-2 victory against Real Betis. A goal and an assist from the Ghanaian bring Atleti back into the title race, just one point behind Barcelona and level with Sevilla and surprise package Alaves.

Partey’s 82 overall should creep up to 84 this week, and you can claim the defensive midfielder’s base card for 900 coins on both consoles.

Marco Reus (OVR 85 – IF 87)

Back to his brilliant best, and equipped with the captain’s armband, Marco Reus has galvanised this Borussia Dortmund side. A 3-2 victory in Der Klassiker over six-time defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich keeps BVB unbeaten in the league, with Reus scoring twice at the Westfalenstadion.

Reus could be set for a second in-form card on Ultimate Team, with his 85 overall likely to climb to 87 this week. Once again he should move to attacking midfield, with his base left midfield card priced at 43,000 coins on PS4 and 40,000 on Xbox One. An 86 Champions League item is valued at 160,000 on PS4 and 172,00 on Xbox One, with an in-form 86 CAM card setting you back a hefty 380,000 coins on PS4 and 360,000 on Xbox One.

Stephan El Shaarawy (OVR 81 – IF 83)

Still only 26 years old, are we now seeing the Stephan El Shaarawy that burst onto the scene at AC Milan in 2012? Il Faraone scored twice as Roma overcame Sampdoria in Serie A, taking them up to sixth place in Serie A, but still three points outside the top four and 15 behind Juventus at the top of the table.

El Shaarawy deserves to rise from 81 to 83 this week, with his base card worth 1,000 coins on PS4 and 1,300 on Xbox One. His 82 Champions League item costs 5,000 on PS4 and 5,800 on Xbox One.

Memphis Depay (OVR 83 – IF 85)

Memphis Depay is now justifying the £25 million fee Manchester United payed for him in 2015, albeit for new club Lyon. Two goals and two assists for Depay, including a stunning free-kick, in the 4-2 victory over Guingamp takes his tally to 33 goals and 29 assists in less than two years in France.

Memphis’ 83 overall should climb to 85 this week, and we also expect his striker position to slide back in to the centre forward role. His base card requires 2,100 coins on PS4 and 1,9000 on Xbox One, whilst an 84 Champions League item is worth 35,750 on PS4 and 44,000 on Xbox One.

Edinson Cavani (OVR 89 – IF 90)

PSG have 13 wins on the bounce, and you may as well hand them the Ligue 1 trophy already, especially with Edinson Cavani in this kind of form. The 31-year-old netted a hat-trick against a Monaco side in the relegation zone, meaning he now has eight goals in eight games this season.

Cavani, PSG’s record goal scorer, should just get nudged up from 89 to 90 this week on Ultimate Team. His base card will cost you 42,000 coins on PS4 and 40,000 on Xbox One, whilst his 90 Champions League rating is valued at 141,000 coins on PS4 and 154,000 on Xbox One.

Alassane Plea (OVR 80 – IF 83)

We finish with another hat trick hero, with Alassane Plea netting a treble for Borussia Monchengladbach against Werder Bremen in a 3-1 victory. 11 goals in 12 games in all competitions for Plea, makes the £21 million fee ‘Gladbach paid Nice an absolute bargain.

Plea’s 80 overall is expected to move up to 83 this week, with his base card costing just 1,400 coins on PS4 and 1,100 on Xbox One.
