FIFA 19 Career Mode: Best cheap high potential goalkeepers (GK)

The transfer record for goalkeepers was shattered multiple times this summer. These are ALL the best bargain goalkeepers (GK) to sign on FIFA 19.

When thinking about future stars people often forget about young goalkeepers. It’s a position that often requires experience and a calm head, which is not a young man’s forte. However, the best goalkeepers are extremely expensive. This summer saw the transfer record for goalkeepers smashed twice and it is only getting more expensive. Taking players before they become great is the only way for some teams to go.

How to choose the best cheap high potential goalkeepers (GK) in FIFA 19 career mode

In this article we are looking for goalkeepers that are available for £5 million or less and have a potential of over 80. This means they won’t break the bank and are viable options for most teams, and they also have the potential to develop into the best goalkeepers in the world. We have excluded goalkeepers currently on loan since you cannot sign them.

For a full list of ALL our best cheap high potential goalkeepers (GK), please look at the table towards the end of the page

Christian Fruchtl (OVR 65 – POT 86)

Age: 18

Club: Bayern Munich

Country: Germany

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 68 GK reflexes, 68 GK diving, 66 GK kicking

Cost: £2.4 million (release clause)

Wage: £4,000 a week

We start with Bayern Munich’s young keeper Christian Fruchtl, who has been with the club since July 2014 and progressed all the way to the Bayern Munich II side as well as the Germany U19 team.

The 18-year-old has the potential to be a world-class goalie in FIFA 19, but at the start of Career Mode he will struggle to hold his own in a major league. The stopper costs £2.4 million with wages of £4,000 a week, getting you his 65 overall and 86 potential.

Mile Svilar (OVR 67 – POT 85)

Age: 19

Club: Benfica

Country: Belgium

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 71 GK diving, 71 jumping, 70 GK reflexes

Cost: £3 million (release clause)

Wage: £2,000 a week

Mile Svilar started his career with Belgian side Anderlecht before signing a five-year contract with Benfica in 2017. He became the youngest goalkeeper ever to play in the Champions League in October 2017 and to date has made three appearances for Benfica’s senior side. He’s also progressed to Belgium’s U19 team.

In FIFA 19 Svilar has excellent potential at 85, and is a better immediate option than Fruchtl. With solid jumping (71) and diving (71) he can get to more balls. The youngster’s 67 overall and bright future will cost you £3 million and wages of £2,000 a week.

Alessandro Plizzari (OVR 66 – POT 84)

Age: 18

Club: AC Milan

Country: Italy

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 72 GK reflexes, 68 GK diving, 68 GK handling

Cost: £2.2 million (release clause)

Wage: £5,000 a week

AC Milan already have one of the best young goalkeepers in the world in Gianluigi Donnarumma, but they also have another strong youngster in Alessandro Plizzari. He is yet to make his senior debut for Milan but played 19 games on loan for Ternana last season and has progressed to the Italy under-20 side.

In FIFA 19, Plizzari is not going to be brilliant immediately, but he has the potential to be excellent. He has good GK reflexes (72) for a young player, and is ok when it comes to diving (68) and handling (68), which contribute to his 66 overall. With a potential of 84, the Italian will cost you £2.2 million and wages of £5,000 a week.

Sonny Laiton (OVR 60 – POT 82)

Age: 18

Club: Auxerre

Country: France

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 72 jumping, 71 strength, 67 reactions

Cost: £986k

Wage: £880 a week

Sonny Laiton has been with Auxerre for his whole career and has made two appearances for them in the Coupe de la Ligue. He has also advanced to the France U19 side.

Laiton is showing great promise with stats of 72 jumping, 71 strength and 67 reactions. You can sign the 18-year-old for less than £1 million and wages under £1,000 a week, getting you his 60 overall and 82 potential.

Florian Muller (OVR 67 – POT 82)

Age: 20

Club: Mainz

Country: Germany

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 69 GK reflexes, 67 GK diving, 66 GK positioning

Cost: £3 million (release clause)

Wage: £7,000 a week

Florian Muller joined Mainz in 2013 and progressed through their youth system before making his senior debut in 2016. To date, he has made five appearances for them. He has also made it up to the Germany U20 side.

In FIFA 19 Muller has wonderful potential of 82, and with a 67 starting overall, he can play a role for your club this season. His good shot-stopping ability (69 GK reflexes, 67 GK diving) as well as good kicking (65) and handling (65) will cost £3 million with wages of £7,000 a week.

Diogo Costa (OVR 66 – POT 82)

Age: 19

Club: Porto

Country: Portugal

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 71 GK reflexes, 68 reactions, 67 GK diving

Cost: £2.5 million (release clause)

Wage: £1,000 a week

Diogo Costa has been with Porto for his entire career. He is yet to make his senior debut as he sits behind Iker Casillas, but has progressed to the Portugal U21 side.

Costa has terrific reflexes (71) in making him a potential starter for a lot of teams throughout FIFA 19, with his other useful stats being 68 reactions and 67 GK diving. £2.5 million can sign the ‘keeper with wages of £1,000 a week.

Over Mandanda (OVR 64 – POT 82)

Age: 19

Club: Bordeaux

Country: France

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 67 GK diving, 66 GK reflexes, 63 GK handling

Cost: £1.8 million (release clause)

Wage: £3,000 a week

Brother of Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda, Over Mandanda has been with Bordeaux since 2016, but is yet to make his senior debut.

Mandanda is a good prospect but with little that is special about him just yet. He is well-rounded, with his main stats all closely bunched (67 GK diving, 66 GK reflexes, 63 GK handling). He is a solid player that can start at a lower league team and will develop into a very good player.

Yehvann Diouf (OVR 61 – POT 82)

Age: 18

Club: Troyes

Country: France

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 63 GK handling, 62 GK positioning, 61 GK jumping

Cost: £1.2 million (release clause)

Wage: £880 a week

Yehvann Diouf has spent his whole career with Troyes, but is yet to make his senior debut. He has progressed to the France under-20 side.

Diouf is not a star player just yet, but he could be one day. Abilities of 63 GK handling, 62 GK positioning and 62 GK jumping will cost £1.2 million with wages of £880 a week.

Gregor Kobel (OVR 66 – POT 81)

Age: 20

Club: Hoffenheim

Country: Switzerland

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 70 GK diving, 68 strength, 68 GK reflexes

Cost: £2.4 million (release clause)

Wage: £4,000 a week

Gregor Kobel joined Hoffenheim in 2016 after spending the previous season on loan with them from Grasshopper. He has played 26 games with Hoffenheim II and made his professional debut with the club in August this year. He has also won 8 caps with the Switzerland U21 side.

Kobel is a decent keeper in FIFA 19, with good diving (70), strength (68) and reflexes (68). His 61 overall can rise to a very useful 81 potential, meaning he will cost £2.4 million with wages of £4,000 a week.

Luca Plogmann (OVR 60 – POT 81)

Age: 18

Club: Werder Bremen

Country: Germany

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 67 jumping, 66 GK reflexes, 64 strength

Cost: £950,000 (release clause)

Wage: £1,000 a week

Luca Plogmann came up through the Werder Bremen youth system and made his professional debut for them as a substitute in September this year. He has also progressed to the Germany U18 side.

In FIFA 19 Plogmann still has a long road ahead of him to reach his potential. Abilities of 67 jumping, 66 reflexes and 64 strength take him to a 60 overall, with a potential of 81. A £950,000 release clause can get you the 18-year-old with wages of £1,000 a week.
