FIFA 19 Career Mode: Best cheap high potential attacking midfielders (CAM)

Finding young, talented attacking midfielders is difficult these days. Teams horde young talent more and more, and with the attacking midfield position requiring a level of nuance to play, quality number 10s rarely appear until they are in their 20s. But, if you look hard enough in FIFA 19 there are some incredibly talented bargain players you can sign in career mode without breaking the bank.

How to choose the best cheap high potential attacking midfielders (CAM) in FIFA 19 Career Mode

We are narrowing our search to attacking midfielders (CAMs) who can be bought for £5 million or less and who are not currently out on loan. This means they should be affordable for most small clubs straight away without draining your transfer budget. These players all have the potential to hit at least 80 OVR meaning they can progress into key first team players with the right development.

For a full list of ALL our cheap high potential attacking midfielders (CAMs), please look at the table towards the end of this page.

+ 10

Age: 18

Positions: CAM, CM

Club: Borussia Dortmund

Country: Spain

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 84 balance, 82 reactions, 75 short pass

Cost: £3.6 million (release clause)

Wage: £13,000 a week

Sergio Gomez signed with Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 after coming through Barcelona's youth system. Dortmund's reputation for developing young prospects into senior team stars is very good, and Sergio Gomez has already made two appearances for Dortmund's senior team. Gomez is also heavily capped by Spain's youth teams. He played 23 times for the under-17 side, scoring 8 times.

In FIFA 19 Gomez has solid skills on the ball (74 dribbling, 71 ball control) and can pass well (75 short pass). He has the potential to be one of the best attacking midfielders in the world if given time to develop. You can sign the Spaniard for his £3.6 million release clause and wages of £13,000 a week.

Angel Gomes (OVR 66 - POT 87)

+ 10

Age: 18

Positions: CAM, LW

Club: Manchester United

Country: England

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 90 balance, 83 agility, 75 acceleration

Cost: £3.5 million (release clause)

Wage: £13,000 a week

Angel Gomes has been with Manchester United for his whole career to date. He's made just one appearance for the senior team, but has played for England at multiple levels, winning 24 junior caps and scoring 8 goals.

In FIFA 19 Gomes has superb athleticism (90 balance, 83 agility, 75 acceleration), taking his overall to 66 which can rise to a fantastic potential of 87. £3.5 million is all you need to sign United's youngest ever player, with wages of £13,000 a week.

Sofiane Diop (OVR 65 - POT 86)

+ 10

Age: 18

Positions: CAM

Club: Monaco

Country: France

Work rate: Medium/Low

Best stats: 92 balance, 81 agility, 76 acceleration

Cost: £3.1 million (release clause)

Wage: £8,000 a week

Sofiane Diop signed a professional contract with Monaco this summer after a debut season with the Rennes reserve side. He is currently part of the France under-19 side and has made three appearances for Monaco so far this season.

Like Gomes, Sofiane Diop has a bright future ahead of him. He has good athleticism (92 balance, 81 agility, 76 acceleration, 72 sprint speed) but he won't be a part of any Monaco team in FIFA 19 for a long time, making him a prime signing for a lower league team on the game. £3.1 million will get the 18-year-old plus wages of £8,000 a week.

Rafik Guitane (OVR 66 - POT 84)

+ 10

Age: 19

Positions: CAM

Club: Stade Rennais

Country: France

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 92 balance, 79 sprint speed, 77 acceleration

Cost: £3.1 million (release clause)

Wage: £4,000 a week

Rafik Guitane made his senior debut with Le Havre in 2017 before making a £9 million move to Rennes in February 2018. He has since been loaned back to Le Havre but in FIFA 19 he is still with Stade Rennais, meaning you can sign him immediately. He has also won 31 caps with France's youth teams and is currently a part of the U20 side.

He's got reasonable pace (79 sprint speed, 77 acceleration) in FIFA 19 and is solid on the ball (72 dribbling, 69 ball control). For a team lower down Ligue 1 or in the Championship he will play well and soon develop into someone that can be hugely influential.

Dominik Szoboszlai (OVR 64 - POT 83)

+ 10

Age: 17

Positions: CAM, CM

Club: Red Bull Salzburg

Country: Hungary

Work rate: Medium/Low

Best stats: 79 sprint speed, 75 acceleration, 73 fk accuracy

Cost: £1.7 million (release clause)

Wage: £5,000 a week

Dominik Szoboszlai currently plays for Liefering but is owned by Red Bull Salzburg and plays for them in FIFA 19. He has scored 12 goals for Liefering through two seasons, has made 23 youth appearances for Hungary, and is currently with their U21 squad.

Szoboszlai is a reasonable striker of the ball (72 curve, 72 shot power, 71 long shots) which makes him a nice threat immediately. He's also got good movement skills (79 sprint speed, 75 acceleration, 74 agility) which will improve as he closes in on a 83 potential. £1.7 million is all it takes to sign the attacking or central midfielder, with wages of £5,000 a week.

Mauro Junior (OVR 70 - POT 82)

+ 10

Age: 19

Positions: CAM, CM

Club: PSV

Country: Brazil

Work rate: High/Medium

Best stats: 83 agility, 82 acceleration, 78 sprint speed

Cost: £4.3 million (release clause)

Wage: £6,000 a week

Mauro Junior joined PSV from Desportivo Brasil in 2017 and has since made 15 appearances for PSV's senior side, scoring once. He's also made four appearances for the Brazil U17 side.

As you'd expect from a Brazilian product, Mauro Junior is quick (83 agility, 82 acceleration, 78 sprint speed) and good with the ball at his feet (77 ball control, 72 dribbling). That immediately makes him useful to a lot of teams and should come in under budget with a £4.3 million release clause and wages of £6,000 a week.

Hannes Wolf (OVR 70 - POT 82)

+ 10

Age: 19

Positions: CAM

Club: Red Bull Salzburg

Country: Austria

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 83 acceleration, 77 dribbling, 76 sprint speed

Cost: £4.6 million (release clause)

Wage: £12,000 a week

Hannes Wolf joined Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 and has already made 52 senior appearances between there and loan spells, scoring 14 times. He has only been capped at youth level three times for the Austria U16 side.

Hannes Wolf has good ball skills (77 dribbling, 74 ball control) and is a solid athlete (83 acceleration, 76 sprint speed) which makes him a capable of starting for a lot of teams in FIFA 19. £4.6 million and wages of £12,000 a week is needed for his 70 overall and 82 potential.

Laszlo Benes (OVR 69 - POT 82)

+ 10

Age: 21

Positions: CAM, CM

Club: Borussia Monchengladbach

Country: Slovakia

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 78 balance, 76 short pass, 76 curve

Cost: £4.1 million

Wage: £11,000 a week

Laszlo Benes moved to Borussia Monchengladbach for £4 million in 2016 and has so far made 8 senior appearances. He's also won a single full senior cap for Slovakia after playing well through their youth teams.

Laszlo Benes is already a good passer (76 short pass, 71 crossing, 63 long pass) and is a great attacking midfielder who can slot into your team. His 69 overall can rise to a 72 potential costing you £4.1 million and wages of £11,000 a week.

David Brooks (OVR 69 - POT 82)

+ 10

Age: 21

Positions: CAM, CF

Club: Bournemouth

Country: Wales

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 81 agility, 79 balance, 76 composure

Cost: £4.5 million (release clause)

Wage: £23,000 a week

David Brooks started his youth career at Manchester City before joining Sheffield United. This summer Bournemouth signed him for a fee of £11.5 million. He has already made five appearances for Bournemouth and won five caps for Wales.

Brooks has good ball skill already (73 ball control, 71 dribbling) and reasonable athleticism (81 agility, 74 sprint speed). Perhaps his best trait is that he has already got well-development mental attributes (76 composure, 72 vision) which means that when the rest of his game catches up he will be consistent and predictable.

Alexis Claude-Maurice (OVR 66 - POT 82)

+ 10

Age: 20

Positions: CAM, LW

Club: Lorient

Country: France

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best stats: 87 acceleration, 86 sprint speed, 84 agility

Cost: £3 million (release clause)

Wage: £2,000 a week

Alexis Claude-Maurice joined Lorient in 2014 and progressed through their youth system to reach the first team by 2017. Since making his debut he has played 27 games for them and scored 6 times. He has also made it up to the France under-20 side.

In FIFA 19 Claude-Maurice has excellent pace (87 acceleration, 86 sprint speed) but lacks the stamina (36) to really use it throughout a game. He is also relatively weak on the ball (65 ball control, 64 dribbling) and as a passer (64 short pass, 58 long pass) making it tough to justify playing him early in career mode. These stats will increase as you play him consistantly.
