Team of the Week 21 (TOTW) Predictions

A great weekend of footballing action, but which stars have done enough to earn a spot in the Team of the Week?

Another week of European football, and with the Champions League and Europa League knockout stages just around the corner, it’s a crucial stage of the season. Those at the top of the table are looking to create a cushion from those around them, and the next month or so will dictate where they finish at the end of the season.

In the Premier League, the game of the weekend was played out between Champions League chasers Tottenham and Liverpool, with goals in injury time for both sides meaning they shared the points at 2-2. In Spain, front runners Barcelona drew with local rivals Espanyol 1-1, but the struggling Real Madrid couldn’t take advantage with a 2-2 draw of their own with Levante.

Over in the Bundesliga, Michy Batshuayi had a dream debut for Borussia Dortmund, scoring twice in a 3-2 victory over Koln. Juventus had a comfortable afternoon against Sassuolo, with the Italian defending champions smashing seven goals past their opponents. Although PSG defeated Lille 3-0, Marseille grabbed the headlines in Ligue 1 with a nine-goal thriller against Metz, winning 6-3.

With so many top matches to dissect, which performers have done enough to earn themselves a spot in the FIFA 18 Team of the Week?

23 players will make the squad and earn a special in form card with a ratings boost. They will be released at 6pm on Wednesday, January 7 and can be challenged in Ultimate Team for a coin boost. If you want to get your hands on the in form players, they can be found in packs on the FUT store and bought individually on the transfer market.

Loris Karius (OVR 80 – IF 84)

Liverpool have not had full faith in their goalkeeper for some time, with Jurgen Klopp offering both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius the opportunity to nail down the number one spot. Karius is enjoying a run in the side, and he repaid his manager’s faith by saving Harry Kane’s penalty in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

Karius’s performance could see his overall rating jump up to 84, and his normal 80 rated card will set you back 800 coins on PS4 and 900 on Xbox One.

Mathieu Debuchy (OVR 78 – IF 83)

Forgotten about by many Arsenal fans, and Mathieu Debuchy was allowed to leave the club for free in January to head back to France and join Saint-Etienne. The right back scored on his debut for his new club as they defeated Amiens 2-0.

That dream debut for the Frenchman should see him make the Team of the Week, and we expect his 78 overall to jump up to 83. His normal gold card is priced at 500 coins on PS4 and 600 on Xbox One.

Damien Da Silva (OVR 77 – IF 84)

A brace from a centre back is a rare sight, Caen’s Damien Da Silva did exactly that in the 2-0 victory over Amiens in Ligue 1. The victory gives Caen a healthy gap from the drop zone, as they’re now five points clear of the relegation spots, and up to 11th in the table.

The French Da Silva should receive a healthy in form boost to 84, and you can get hold of his normal 77 rating for 750 coins on PS4 and 1,000 on Xbox One.

Alex Sandro (OVR 86 – IF 88)

One of the best left back’s in the world, and Alex Sandro perhaps had one of the easiest games of his career as Juventus smashed Sassuolo 7-0 in Serie A. The Brazilian Sandro opened the scoring and then assisted Sami Khedira shortly after to put The Old Lady 2-0 up.

Sandro’s efforts should take him to an 88 overall rating this week, but you’ll need 82,000 coins to sign him on Ultimate Team on PS4 and 58,000 on Xbox One.

Florian Thauvin (OVR 82 – SIF 85)

Newcastle fans won’t remember much of Florian Thauvin after a poor half a season on Tyneside in 2015, but he’s shown his ability back in France. The right winger bagged a hat trick and grabbed an assist as his Marseille side defeated Metz in a 6-3 thriller, keeping OM them in the title race, 11 points behind front-runners PSG.

Thauvin’s 82 overall rating should jump up to 85 this week, and you can get his normal card for 1,800 coins on PS4 and 1,900 on Xbox One. His 84 rated in form card is priced at 40,500 coins on PS4 and 42,750 on Xbox One.

Aaron Ramsey (OVR 82 – IF 87)

No one has every questioned Aaron Ramsey’s goal scoring pedigree, and the Welshman once again showed his composure in front of goal with a hat trick against Everton at the weekend. Those three goals doubled his tally for the season, and now he’s back to full fitness following a hamstring injury he’s no doubt looking to add a few more before the end of the season.

Central midfielder Ramsey has an 82 rating on Ultimate Team, but after a hat trick that could rise as high as 87. You get his normal gold card for 1,600 coins on PS4 and 1,800 on Xbox One.

Sami Khedira (OVR 84 – IF 86)

Back to Juventus’ seven goal rout over Sassuolo, central midfielder Sami Khedira scored twice and set another up in the big win. The German has been linked with a move away from Italy, and he would have no shortage of suitors if he were to leave Juve.

Khedira’s 84 overall rating should rise to around 86 this week, and you can get his normal card for 4,6000 coins on PS4 and 4,400 on Xbox One in Ultimate Team.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (OVR 85 – IF 87)

A move to Arsenal means a fresh start for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and with the firepower of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining him at The Emirates, the Gunners could now sneak back into the top four. Aaron Ramsey may have grabbed three goals in the 5-1 victory over Everton, but Mkhitaryan showed his craft with three assists in the big win.

The Armenian’s 85 rating should climb to 87 on Wednesday, but his normal Arsenal card is yet to be released on Ultimate Team. His Ones to Watch item will set you back 199,000 coins on PS4 and 214,000 on Xbox One, and his Manchester United card is priced at 16,500 on PS3 and 17,500 on Xbox One.

Mohamed Salah (OVR 83 – SIF 87)

One of the best players in Europe this season, Mohamed Salah became the fastest Liverpool player to reach 20 Premier League goals with his brace against Spurs taking him to 21 goals in 25 games. The Egyptian thought his solo effort in injury time had won the game for The Reds but was let down by the defence.

The right winger has had plenty of rare cards this season, so expect Salah’s 83 overall to reach at least 87 this week if he makes the Team of the Week. His normal rating costs around 2,500 coins on both consoles, with an 85 right midfield Hero card priced at 175,000 coins on PS4 and 179,000 on Xbox One. Salah also has an 86 striker in form card, costing 308,000 on PS4 and 329,000 on Xbox One, and his 86 Ones to Watch item is valued at around 385,000 coins on both consoles.

Gonzalo Higuain (OVR 90 – SIF 92)

A good old-fashioned centre forward, Gonzalo Higuain netted a hat trick in Juventus’ 7-0 win over Sassuolo. The Argentine now has 12 for the season, and with him and compatriot Paulo Dybala in the side, Juventus will have the confidence to overcome Napoli in the title race. The Bianconeri are just one point behind their rivals, with 15 games to play.

Higuain has a 90 rating on Ultimate Team, and that is likely to rise to 92 this week. The striker’s 90 card will cost you 65,500 coins on PS4 and 61,000 on Xbox One, and you get his 91 in form rating for 297,000 on PS4 and 320,000 on Xbox One.

Michy Batshuayi (OVR 80 – SIF 84)

Michy Batshuayi netted a brace in his final game for Chelsea just over a week ago and then repeated the trick on his debut for Borussia Dortmund this past weekend. The Belgian striker has joined the German club on loan for the rest of the season, and given his debut, in which he also bagged an assist, it looks likely that he’ll join BVB permanently in the summer.

‘The Batsman’ is rated at 80 on Ultimate Team, and this could rise to an 84 in form score come Wednesday. His normal card is yet to be sold on PS4, and will cost 10,000 coins on PS4. His new Ones to Watch item is valued at 104,000 coins on PS4 and 99,500 on Xbox One.
