Need a starting or backup goalkeeper but struggling funds? Finding one can be very tricky on FIFA 17’s Career Mode, especially if you don’t have the time to send your scouts on perhaps pointless missions. But fear not, RealSport has you covered, and we bring you the best bargain goalkeepers to sign in Career Mode.

Timon Wellenreuther (OVR 72 – POT 84)

If you are a top flight side looking for an understudy goalkeeper to break into the first team within the next five years, Wellenreuther is your man. The 20-year-old German can be snapped up for just £4.5 million which is an absolute bargain for someone of his potential. The Schalke man offers the GK Long Throw and ‘Comes For Crosses’ traits, to go with his 76 diving, 75 jumping and 74 reflexes. His starting wages of £14,000 are absolutely ideal, and he is unlikely to ask for any more.

Yoan Cardinale (OVR 77 – POT 83)

In a not too dissimilar bracket is Yoan Cardinale who could be bought by a team expected to be battling with relegation. The 22-year-old will improve as you climb the table year-on-year, and by the time you are battling for European football, he will be reaching his peak. The Nice keeper also ‘Comes For Crosses’ and has 78 reflexes, 78 handling and 77 positioning. The Frenchman’s starting wages of just £720 mean he will be an absolute bargain coming in at £9 million.

Rene Adler (OVR 81 – POT 81)

The slightly more expensive Rene Adler comes in at around £13 million, but with a decent goalkeeper at his peak, you can’t really complain. The Hamburger shot-stopper has 82 positioning, 81 reflexes and 81 reactions, as well as a ‘Leadership’ trait, but is also injury prone. For £22,000 per week wages, he is my no means expensive, but with younger options around, you may be willing to pay that little bit more for a longer term investment rather than the 31-year-old German.

Miguel Angel Moya (OVR 81 – POT 81)

It’s exactly the same story with 32-year-old Atletico Madrid goalie Miguel Angel Moya. The 32-year-old had a brief battle with Jan Oblak for the number one shirt at the Estadio Vicente Calderon but has ultimately lost out. Heading to a new club would be the perfect time for the Spaniard, especially with stats of 85 diving, 82 kicking and 81 positioning, as well as the ‘GK Up for Corners’ trait. He will cost only £12 million, but his £43,000 wages may cause you to think again.

Cedric Carrasso (OVR 81 – POT 81)

Bordeaux man Cedric Carrasso may be a bit older, but with a transfer price of just £5.5 million, even if you were to have him for just one season you wouldn’t complain. He brings the ‘Leadership’ and ‘Team Player’ traits alongside his 82 reflexes, 81 GK kicking, and 79 positioning. The 34-year-old Frenchman has incredibly low wages of £720 per week, making him a perfect stop gap if you don’t quite have the right funds to go for a world class ‘keeper.

Nicola Leali (OVR 73 – POT 81)

Nicola Leali was once dubbed to be the next Gianluigi Buffon after moving to Juventus in 2012, but four years later, he looks unlikely to come close to the Italian captain. His loan move to Olympiakos has been made permanent on FIFA 17, but with just one year remaining on his contract, he can be snapped up for just £4.3 million. With a relatively high potential, Leali could be the perfect answer for a club aspiring for promotion, as he will be of top-flight standard in a year’s time. His 80 reflexes, 76 diving and 72 handling should tempt you just enough to take a punt on him, with his wages only £11,000 per week.

Adrian (OVR 80 – POT 80)

West Ham goalkeeper Adrian has his moments, both good and bad, but he has now established himself as a Premier League regular. The 29-year-old is now in the last year of his contract at the Olympic Stadium, and with Joe Hart available next summer, the Spaniard probably hasn’t done enough to stay on. He does still offer 86 reflexes, 82 diving and 78 handling, so if you need some experience in goal he could be your man. He should only set you back around £8 million and £43,000 wages, and considering his level won’t drop for four or five years, that is a pretty safe investment.
