FIFA 17 Career Mode: Best young Spanish strikers

Spain have had a great record for producing goalscorers, and there seem to be a few more players coming through. RealSport looks at the best wonderkid Spanish strikers to sign on Fifa 17.

Spain have produced top striking talent over the years, from Raul to Fernando Morientes and from Fernando Torres to David Villa. Since the disappearance of those players, the national team has struggled to find a reliable replacement, with current first choice number nine Diego Costa tussling with consistency. So who will be the next man to step up? FIFA 17 suggests that there are a number of players who could lead the line over the coming years. RealSport takes you through the best Spanish strikers aged 23 and under.

Paco Alcacer (OVR 81 – POT 87)

It surprised many to see 22-year-old Paco Alcacer move from Valencia to Barcelona, not because of his lack of quality, but the mass of attacking talent Barca has at their disposal. His 15 goals for La Liga strugglers Valencia last season earned him a move to the Camp Nou, but, as you can imagine, he has struggled to get minutes on the pitch behind Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, and as a result is yet to score for his new club. FIFA 17 does recognise his potential, with 87-rated positioning, 86 reactions, 85 volleys and 84 finishing. You will have to wait until January to sign him on Career Mode, and he may not be worth the £30 million price tag. His wages are affordable at £43,000.

Alvaro Morata (OVR 82 – POT 86)

Alvaro Morata found it hard to get a run of games for Juventus last season, with Argentine youngster Paulo Dybala proving to be an absolute revelation in Serie A. Strangely, the 23-year-old Morata secured a move back to former club Real Madrid in the summer, as the club exercised its buy-back option on the player. Many thought the Champions League winners would be looking to sell the forward or left winger on for profit, but he has remained at the Santiago Bernabeu to provide competition for Karim Benzema. He has hit the net four times in 13 games this season, but eight of those have come from the bench. Morata offers 86 sprint speed, 83 positioning and 83 ball control on FIFA 17, but once again you will have to wait until January to sign him, and he could cost you more than £30 million. His wages of £72,000 are perhaps just a fraction too high to take a risk on.

Borja Mayoral (OVR 72 – POT 86)

If you are looking for a striker to take you from relegation battlers to title contenders, then Borja Mayoral could be your main. The 19-year-old Wolfsburg man has a starting rating of just 72, but with the potential to hit the heights of 86. Mayoral is on loan from Real Madrid, but if Wolfsburg doesn’t take him on permanently, he could be a real coup for around £12 million and £14,000 wages. For that price, you will get a player with 78 finishing, 77 positioning and 75 sprint speed.

Borja Baston (OVR 80 – POT 85)

If Swansea are to stay up this season, it will be down to new signing Borja Baston. Borja hit 19 goals in 39 games on loan at Eibar last season, earning him a move from parent club Atletico Madrid to the Premier League. The 23-year-old offers 89 strength, 88 positioning and 85 volleys on FIFA 17, and at six foot three, he is an old-fashioned striker. You will have to wait until January to sign him, and it may take a bid of £25 million to steal him away from the Swans, but his £25,000 wages could tempt you enough to make a move.

Ayoze Perez (OVR 74 – POT 82)

Newcastle fans would have expected Ayoze Perez to have left the club following their relegation from the Premier League last season, but with vastly experienced manager Rafael Benitez staying at St James’s Park, 22-year-old Perez has remained with The Magpies. The striker, attacking or left midfielder has 84 agility, 81 dribbling and 79 acceleration on FIFA 17, which could be yours for around £12 million, with his wages only costing £3,000 per week.

Sandro (OVR 74 – POT 82)

Malaga man Sandro is a player you need to pick up early or not at all. He left Barcelona last season after struggling to get game time, but he has started life well with his new club, scoring three times in his first nine matches. He has 87 agility, 81 balance and 79 acceleration on FIFA 17, which could tempt any lower half side to take a punt on the 20-year-old. The striker or left winger could be yours for less than £10 million, and his starting wages of £720 make him a player you have to consider.
