Since its announcement almost three years ago at E3, questions have been thrown around about the next Elder Scrolls game's setting, particularly people asking "Where is the new Elder Scrolls set?"
Well, Bethesda may have just given us our first teaser of The Elder Scrolls 6 and where we will be adventuring.
So, let's take a look at that now!
Where Is The New Elder Scrolls Set?
To celebrate New Year's, Bethesda posted a picture of the map of Tamriel, with some candles placed on it. One was placed in Skyrim, while the other was located in the hills of Hammerfell.
Attached to the image was the caption "Transcribe the past and map the future. Here's to a Happy New Year"
Fans have taken this as Bethesda teasing that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be set in Hammerfell.
Now, of course, this could end up not being a tease and is instead just a celebratory way to ring in the new year, which game companies are known for doing.
But, fans have been speculating that the game's setting will be Hammerfell for quite a while. The teaser for the game shows rocky mountains, which are similar to Hammerfell's Northern area of Daggerfall.
Combine this with the candle and it certainly seems that Bethesda could be hinting at something more than this just being a coincidence.
This isn't the first time the region has been featured in the series, with The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall being set nearby. Zenimax Online also featured the region in The Elder Scrolls Online.
The Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away, but this new tease is a great snippet of information for fans are hungering for more information on the game. Bethesda Games Studios will first release Starfield, which is their new IP, set in outer space.
What do we know so far?
Very little is known about the game yet, but we are expecting to hear more this year.
It isn't clear whether or not The Elder Scrolls 6 will come to PS5 or PS4 as Microsoft now own Zenimax Media, the parent company of Bethesda. Many believe Bethesda games will become exclusive to Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and PC.
Microsoft hasn't been clear either about whether or not they will release games on platforms other than those mentioned above. We will likely have to wait a few years to find out where The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released.
