What is the “Weasel” error in Destiny 2?

Unlike other common errors or bugs that occur due to network connectivity issues, the Weasel error has nothing to do with the internet.

According to the Bungie Help page, the Weasel error in Destiny 2 appears when players try to log into the same account on different platforms with cross-save enabled.

Additionally, it sometimes appears after players have been banned from an activity. When players are banned, they will receive a notification upon trying to log into Destiny 2 and the error code will pop up.

How to fix the “Weasel” error in Destiny 2

There are a few ways of tackling the Weasel error in Destiny 2. Here's what we've found works best.

Check Destiny 2's server status

Prior to actually trying to get hands-on with the issue, go ahead and check up on Destiny 2's servers.

The best way to do this is by visiting the Bungie Forums, going to the Destiny Server and Update Status website, checking the Bungie Help Twitter, or paying a visit to downdetector.com.

All of these options are a great way to find out more information regarding Destiny 2's servers.

Log out on all devices

Seeing as this error occurs when multiple platforms are involved, the first thing you should do after checking if there's a server outage is log out from all your devices. This includes your PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

After that, try logging in on just one of your devices. The error should clear up.

Restart your PC, PlayStation, or Xbox

If the first fix didn't work, just go for the good ol' reboot. Go ahead and restart your platform of choice, be it your PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

To restart, just completely shut off your PC or console and turn it back on. Once it's all booted up, try logging back into Destiny 2.

Restart your internet

If all else fails, go ahead and restart your internet. To do this, go over to your router or modem, or router+modem combination, and unplug them, wait for around 10 seconds, and plug it back in.

Once your internet is back up and running, try logging back into Destiny 2.
