It's time to show the EAZ what you're really made of, Guardians! The Solstice of Heroes Event is coming back to round out Destiny 2 and the Season of the Splicer. It's sort of like the "Summer Event" for Bungie's looter shooter and there's plenty of neat stuff to get your hands on. Here's everything you need to know.
LATEST - What Time Do Things Kick-Off?
In the past, a Destiny 2 update has always started after the Weekly Reset Server Maintenance. It doesn't look like this year's Solstice of Heroes is any different. Below, we have everything you need to know about what time the next title update is due to go live today (July 6th) and how long everything should take.
Let the countdown to the Solstice of Heroes begin...
- Maintenance Begins
- 09:00 PST / 12:00 EST / 17:00 BST
- Players Removed From Activities, Destiny 2 Brought Offline
- 09:45 PST / 12:45 EST / 17:45 BST
- Update 3.2.1 Added, Players Can Log Back In Once Downloaded
- 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST
- Maintenance Expected To Conclude
- 11:00 PST / 14:00 EST / 19:00 BST
As always, these times are subject to change. There could be some unforeseen delay, but that would most likely affect the back-end of Server Maintenance as opposed to the release time of the next title update.
When Does The Solstice of Heroes Start?
The 2021 iteration of Destiny 2's Solstice of Heroes Event is due to kick off on July 6th during the Weekly Reset. It's going to be a free-to-play event for all players, so if you're new and you haven't got the Season Pass... Don't worry!
As it stands, the only requirement for Destiny 2 players is that you'll need to have unlocked The Tower. This means you'll need to play through the opening sections of the game and escape The Cosmodrone before you can start getting involved with any Solstice of Heroes Event activities.
This time around, the event is due to last about four weeks and ends during the Weekly Reset on August 3rd. It looks like it's going to tie up the Season of the Splicer and lead into the next major update for Bungie's looter shooter.
What's Going To Happen During The Event?
From the looks of it, this year's Solstice of Heroes Event is going to follow the same major beats as the last iteration of the event.
Eva Levante is coming back as the "Host" of the event and there's going to be an evolving class-specific armour to unlock and upgrade. The "main task" of the Solstice of Heroes Event is to kill bosses in the EAZ. You can kill as many as you want and loot as much as you can during the event, though.
" The sky’s the limit on how many bosses you defeat and how many caches you unlock. Well... the sky and the clock. Make haste, Guardians."
Every time you complete an EAZ drop, you'll earn both Solstice Packages and Solstice Key Fragments depending on how many bosses you kill. You need the keys to unlock the packages and the packages are where you get your Solstice Gear. It's all pretty straightforward.
In a similar vein to the last Solstice of Heroes Event, there's also going to be a Daily Elements rotation that Guardians are going to need to match their Subclass Weapon to in order to generate buffing Elemental Orbs. Stasis is going to be included in and amongst the standard rotation of Daily Elements.
Anything New? Rewards & More
It might all seem largely the same, but there are new rewards to be had during this year's Solstice of Heroes Event so it isn't all bad.
Bungie hasn't said too much about the specifics, but there's going to be new armour sets, a new Emblem, and possibly a new Sparrow and Ship cosmetics set.
It also looks like there's a Legendary Shotgun, Compass Rose, up for grabs. Classically, Bungie is keeping tight-lipped about it all though. We suppose they have to keep something secret ahead of the event.
Arguably though, the new Ghost cosmetic items are what we all really want. As you can see below, they're absolutely outstanding and well worth the grind to get them.
