Players have been showing their disappointment as the Reaper mod in Destiny 2: Lightfall is not working.
Destiny 2: Lightfall recently launched and with it came a whole slew of new mods for players to try. One of these is the Reaper mod, who, due to an unexpected bug, was deactivated by Bungie.
In response, players have been wondering when will it return.
Destiny 2: Lightfall Reaper Mod - Why was it deactivated?
The Reaper mod creates Orbs of Power upon a player's first weapon kill after using their class ability. Players can get maximize the mod's usage in conjunction with some powerful class abilities such as Bomber, Outreach, or, Utility Kickstart. Class abilities and the Reaper mod synergize extremely well, as the mod gains great uptime.
With the release of Lightfall, players found that an unexpected exploit with the Reaper mod. If done correctly, players could produce an infinite amount of orbs—this quickly became disruptive in PvP.
To perform the exploit, all players had to do was remove the Reaper mod near the middle of the map. Removing the mod from their class armor dropped an Orb of Power. Add the fact that players did this for several mods and Orbs of Power were practically everywhere.
Such a massive exploit gave way to Bungie disabling the Reaper mod fairly quickly, alongside the Dynammo mod. Bungie disabled the mod the day after Lightfall's release.

When will the Reaper Mod return in Destiny 2: Lightfall?
There's no telling when the Reaper mod will be making its return to Destiny 2: Lightfall as there's been no concrete follow-up.
Seeing that Lightfall just launched, the developers have their hands full at the moment. Bungie hasn't given a timeline of when the Reaper mod will return or how long it will take to fix.
