What is Iron Banner in Destiny 2?

Iron Banner is an event in the Crucible that appears a couple of times a season. Like Trials of Osiris, it's one of the marquee PvP events in Destiny 2 and offers unique armor and weapons.

MANO Y MANO: Players play against one another in Iron Banner

To participate in the Iron Banner, players must get to Lord Shaxx in the New Light quest, and later speak with Lord Saladin in the Tower Courtyard. In the event, players can earn tokens by completing matches. These tokens can be turned into Lord Saladin for armor, weapons, shaders, and more. The armor and gear from Iron Banner are some of the best in the game.

The Iron Banner is largely centered around one mode. In the past, Iron Banner had modes such as Rift (from Destiny 1), Eruption, and lastly—and most recently, Fortress.

For this Iron Banner, players can expect to be playing Eruption. In Eruption, players grow in power upon getting kills, entering a "Prime" state whereupon kills grant additional points but destroy the Guardian after 15 seconds.

Iron Banner Rewards (April 4)

In the past, Iron Banner has always had the same rewards each month, which included armor, weapons, and cosmetics. However, that's changed over time. Meaning, that a new Iron Banner means a whole new set of rewards.
