After 8 years of development, Cyberpunk 2077 is just hours away.
Even though it won't be releasing on next gen consoles at launch, the last gen versions can still be played on them via backwards compatibility with some graphical improvements.
PS5 vs PC
The next generation of consoles are seriously impressive.
Graphically they look stunning for a £449 system, offering ray tracing to compliment the next gen visual quality.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting a next gen version, however this won't be available at launch.
But, for players that purchase either the PS4 or Xbox One version, they can be upgraded to the next gen versions for free when it does launch in 2021.
Video Games Chronicle have posted comparison images showing the graphical differences between the PC version and the PS4 version playing on the PS5.
Remember, the graphics in the PS5 images are from the PS4 version, not the upcoming PS5 port so expect those visuals to be even better.
We've got to say though, for a slightly improved PS4 version, the graphics are stunning and do hope up against PC, even if the PC visuals are overall better.
The PC images were captured using a Intel Core i7-8086K @ 4.00GHz, Nvidia RTX 2070 and 16GB of RAM, with all visual settings set to max and medium level ray-tracing.

Here is when the game will unlock on each platform and region:
- PS4/Xbox One: Thursday, 10 December at 12am local time
- PC (all launchers): Wednesday, 9 December at 4pm PST / December 9 at 7 pm EST / December 10 at 12am GMT
Players can already preload the game, so if you haven't purchased yet then you've still got time to be ready for launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available at launch on:
- PC via GOG, Epic Games Store, and Steam
- PlayStation 4
- Xbox One
- Google Stadia
What About PS5 & Xbox Series X|S?
CD Projekt Red have confirmed that the game will be coming to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
However, this won't be at launch and will instead be released hopefully sometime in 2021.
The good news is, due to both consoles' backwards compatibility, Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on both next gen consoles at launch.
But, players will be using the PS4/Xbox One version of the game, meaning they won't get any of the improved graphics, ray tracing etc.
Will I Need To Buy The Game Again?
It has been confirmed that owners of the PS4 and Xbox One version of the game will be able to upgrade to the next gen version for free when it is released.
CD Projekt Red confirmed on Twitter that "a later upgrade to Cyberpunk 2077, taking full advantage of the next-gen hardware, will be available for free."
