What is Realism BR in Warzone & how does this new Playlist work?

It's been a long time since we've seen the word "Realism" on a Warzone Playlist Update - you might be wondering what Realism BR even means, and we don't blame you! The last Warzone Playlist Update until Season 6 launches is a good one and we have everything you need to know about Realism BR and what this means.

REALISM BR - What is it and how does it work?

Realism BR is a little like Hardcore for Warzone. When you jump into a game of Realism BR, you'll have a limited HUD and deal additional damage to anything above the neck.

Raven Software hasn't released any Patch Notes with this Playlist Update, so we have to assume that it's going to follow the same format as its first appearance way back in Modern Warfare Season 4 (that's over a year ago!)

Increased headshot damage and a limited HUD aren't the only things different in Realism BR. You can still look at the Warzone map, but it must be brought up manually - there's no mini-map anymore. This will block your view but will allow you to see your teammates. While you're playing, your squad won't show up on your screen until you're in close proximity.

This is, for lack of a better term, like Hardcore Warzone. You're going to need to be careful, co-ordinate with your squad, and make every round count. Realism BR is a Warzone experience you're going to want to try out - at the very least - while it's here, again.

PLAYLIST UPDATE - What else is new in Warzone?

Following the latest Playlist Update, the following modes are now available in Warzone.

  • Verdansk
    • Buy Backs - Solo
    • Realism BR - Quads
    • Plunder - Trios
  • Rebirth Island
  • Resurgence Extreme - Quads

In addition to this, the following modes have been removed for the time being:

  • Verdansk
    • Core BR - Solos
    • Iron Trials '84 - Duos
    • Plunder - Quads
  • Rebirth Island
    • Resurgence - Quads

Playlist Updates are a weekly event for Warzone, so these should all be in place until October 6th at a minimum - Realism BR might be around a little longer than that, though.
