It's a feature that Call of Duty fans have been asking for for years and it's finally on the way. Activision has confirmed that Ranked Play will be coming to Vanguard soon, so the wait is nearly over. So that you're ready for it, here are all the details on the Call of Duty Vanguard ranked play release.
Latest - Season 2 Delayed
Ranked play would probably have been here sooner, but the Season 2 update of Vanguard has been delayed.
The Call of Duty Twiiter account released the following statement about the delay:
"We’ve deployed a number of updates, but more needs to be done. Thank you for being patient while we delay the release of Season Two in #Vanguard and #Warzone to prioritize ongoing work to balance and optimize your current gameplay experience."
There have been various issues in Warzone in particular since Season One began, so fixing those is taking priority over new content.
Season 2 of Warzone Pacific and Vanguard will now release on February 14, a couple of weeks later than planned.
Call of Duty Vanguard Ranked Play Release Date
Thankfully, that delay has led to us knowing exactly when to expect ranked play in Vanguard.
Activision has also confirmed that it will arrive alongside Season 2. Therefore, you'll be able to jump into Ranked Play in Vanugard from February 14.
We don't know anything about how the ranked mode will look, but more information is due to come soon.
Is It Coming to Warzone?
Now for the question on everyone's lips, is ranked play coming to Warzone, too?
Well, that's still up in the air. When revealing ranked mode for Vanguard, it was telling that Warzone was not mentioned at all. That almost certainly means that ranked play isn't imminent for the battle royale, and it's certainly not coming at the start of Season 2.
However, Activision would be silly to completely ignore Warzone, so we'd expect ranked to come to it soon-ish, probably after any kinks are ironed out in Vanguard.
If we hear more then the updates on the mode arrive, we'll let you know.
